Macherey-Nagel reagent case with PF-3 Pool, liquid chlorine, 934118

The reagent case with PF-3 Pool and liquid chlorine reagent from Macherey-Nagel contains the PF-3 Pool compact photometer and four VISOCOLOR ECO test kits for the classic swimming pool parameters chlorine (free and total), pH, cyanuric acid and alkalinity. According to the manufacturer, it is intended for the analysis of swimming pool samples, has room for further test kits and can be equipped individually.

PF-3 Pool compact photometer

The PF-3 Pool is dust-tight and waterproof to IP68 (test conditions according to the manual: 1 m water depth, 1 hour) and runs on three AA batteries or via USB. It measures with three LEDs at 450, 530 and 590 nm in round cuvettes with 16 mm outer diameter; the cuvette slot stays open, and according to the manual extraneous light does not interfere. Up to 50 measured values with date and time are held in memory and can be exported via mini-USB and the free NANOCOLOR data export software. The manufacturer recommends calibration with the calibration cuvette at least once a year.

According to the flyer, the PF-3 Pool also evaluates further VISOCOLOR ECO tests, for example for bromine, chlorine dioxide, fluoride and iron. They are not part of the case but are also available.

Liquid or solid chlorine

Both pool cases differ only in the chlorine test. This case contains Chlorine 2: measuring range 0.05 to 2.00 mg/L Cl₂, 150 tests, test kit shelf life 1.5 years. The reagents are liquid and are dosed in drops. The reagent case with PF-3 Pool and solid chlorine reagent (934119) contains Chlorine 6: measuring range 0.05 to 6.00 mg/L Cl₂, 200 tests, test kit shelf life 2 years, a solid powder as the first reagent. Alkalinity, cyanuric acid and pH are the same in both cases. The manufacturer gives the shelf life of the case as 1 year for both versions; according to the brochure, the TA alkalinity test also has a shelf life of 1 year. Anyone who has to measure chlorine values above 2 mg/L needs the case with Chlorine 6.

Technical details

The hazardous substance rows show the labelling of the product as a whole according to Section 2.2 of the safety data sheet. The individual reagents are classified separately in the manufacturer’s safety data sheet. H314 is due to the chlorine reagent Cl2-2, H351 to the cyanuric acid reagent Cya-1.
