The Macherey-Nagel VISOCOLOR soil reagent case with PF-3 Soil is the version without sample preparation. The case holds the PF-3 Soil compact photometer and four VISOCOLOR ECO test kits for ammonium, potassium, nitrate and phosphate. According to the manufacturer, it is intended for the analysis of soil samples, has room for further test kits and can be equipped individually.

The soil methods are pre-programmed in the instrument and take the dilution into account, so that results appear in mg/kg soil. According to the manual of the soil reagent case, this applies only if the sample has been prepared according to this manual.
PF-3 Soil compact photometer
The PF-3 Soil measures at three LED wavelengths (365, 450 and 660 nm) in round cuvettes with 16 mm outer diameter. The cuvette slot is open; according to the manual, the instrument is insensitive to extraneous light. It stores 50 measured values with date and time and transfers them via mini-USB. With the free NANOCOLOR data export software, the data can be exported and up to 10 custom methods can be created. The housing is dust-tight and waterproof to IP68 (test conditions according to the manual: 1 m water depth, 1 hour). The manufacturer recommends calibrating the instrument with the calibration cuvette at least once a year.

This case does not contain accessories for soil extraction. Balance, sieve, extraction solutions, filters and shaking bottles are part of the VISOCOLOR soil reagent case with PF-3 Soil and accessories (934220). It also includes pH-Fix, QUANTOFIX Nitrate/Nitrite for pH and nitrite, a workbook in four languages and the VISOCOLOR manual. The four photometric test kits are the same in both cases. Anyone who cannot prepare soil samples themselves chooses the case with accessories. Anyone who already covers extraction with their own equipment manages with this smaller case.
