With 749 litres of interior and 14 possible shelves, the Memmert Climate Chamber ICH750 is the largest ICH version. It stands as a mobile floor-standing unit on castors, measures 1,224 x 1,950 x 785 mm (W x H x D) externally and weighs approx. 249 kg net. -10 to +60 °C can be set, and humidity can be actively controlled from 10 to 80 % rh. Cooling is via a compressor with the refrigerant R290 (propane).
Shelves, load and interior
The stainless steel interior measures 1,040 x 1,200 x 600 mm (W x H x D), and the depth is reduced by 33 mm for the fan. Two electropolished stainless steel grid shelves are inserted, and up to 14 shelves are possible. 30 kg are permitted per shelf, and 200 kg for the whole unit. Anyone who needs heavier shelves can order the interior modification with support rails from the factory. It includes reinforced stainless steel grid shelves that can bear up to 60 kg, while the total load of 200 kg remains decisive. Reinforced perforated sheets are also available as accessories. The housing outside is made of textured stainless steel, and the rear wall is fully galvanised.
Compressor cooling and air jacket
The compressor cooling and heating system is CFC-free and has an automatic defrost. An air jacket temperature control system surrounds the interior, and the thermal jacket is separated from the interior, so there is no evaporator-related drying out of the material. The air turbine is electronically controllable and can be set in 10 % steps.
Ranges with and without humidity
The setting temperature range is -10 to +60 °C. Without humidity this range also applies as the working range, and with humidity the chamber works from +10 °C to +60 °C. It is not designed for permanent storage at sub-zero temperatures, and in continuous operation the glass door can ice up. Humidity is displayed with 0.1 % resolution and set to an accuracy of 0.5 %, temperature to 0.1 °C. Humidification is by a hot steam generator. A self-priming pump delivers distilled water from an external container, and the water canister with connection hose is part of the scope of delivery. Anyone who wants to connect the chamber to the domestic water supply selects the central water supply with filter cartridges (ZWVR6) or without (ZWVR7). With ZWVR7, only demineralised, fully deionised water with 5 to 10 μS/cm conductivity and a pH value between 5 and 7 is to be used.
Control, programming and safety
In the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY, two Pt100 sensors of DIN class A monitor each other and step in for one another in the event of a fault. SetpointWAIT lets the process time start only when the setpoint temperature has been reached, and the countdown clock ranges from 1 minute to 99 days. Programs are transferred via Ethernet or USB with the AtmoCONTROL software and remain saved in sequence in the event of a power failure. A mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 to DIN 12880 switches the heating off at approx. 10 °C above the maximum chamber temperature. Selectable on the display are an adjustable temperature monitor of protection class 3.3 or an adjustable temperature limiter of protection class 2. AutoSAFETY reports deviations, switches the heating off when exceeded and the cooling unit when fallen below. Self-diagnosis as well as visual and acoustic alarm are built in.
Installation
The ICH750 needs 230 V, 50/60 Hz and draws approx. 1,350 W. The environment may be 15 to 28 °C warm, with a restricted temperature range up to 34 °C, at a maximum of 70 % rel. humidity, non-condensing, and the installation height is up to 2,000 m above sea level. With carton the delivery measures 1,330 x 2,150 x 1,050 mm at approx. 319 kg.
Selection guide: 749 litres and the alternatives
If 256 l is enough, the ICH260 with up to 9 shelves and 20 kg per shelf is the smaller variant with the same temperature and humidity ranges. The Peltier chamber HPP750eco, also with 749 l, has the same size but different technology: it sets 0 to +70 °C without humidity and controls humidity from 10 to 90 % rh, but works without a compressor. If samples are to be temperature-controlled down to -10 °C, the ICH750 is the choice.

Available as factory options for the ICH750 are, among others, the interior modification for reinforced grid shelves, an interior socket, lateral feedthroughs with 23 mm and a silicone feedthrough with 40 mm inner diameter, 4-20 mA current interfaces for temperature, humidity and up to three Pt100 sensors, a fan speed monitoring with heating shutdown, a compressed air drying, a lockable door, a potential-free contact for fault messages, a door-open detection and MobileALERT by SMS. Accessories are stainless steel grid shelves, perforated sheets and drip trays, a USB-Ethernet adapter, an Ethernet cable, the USB user ID stick, the FDA basic licence for AtmoCONTROL FDA and an external measuring device for temperature and humidity.
