The Nabertherm muffle furnace LT 5/13 reaches a maximum temperature of 1,300 °C with a working volume of 5 litres and opens upwards via a lift door. The heating elements are mounted on support tubes on two sides of the furnace chamber and radiate freely into the interior, surrounded by multi-layer insulation made of robust lightweight refractory bricks. The furnace is operated via the B510 touch controller.
Housing, door and air routing
The housing is double-walled and rear-ventilated, made of textured stainless steel sheet. The lift door opens upwards and has an adjustable air inlet, while exhaust air escapes through an opening in the rear wall of the furnace. Inside, the working space measures 225 x 170 x 130 mm (W x D x H), externally the furnace is 490 x 450 x 580 mm, with the open lift door requiring an additional 320 mm of clearance above. The LT 5/13 weighs 46 kg. The heating elements on support tubes are designed for free heat radiation and a long service life.
Controller B510 and connection
The B510 controller has touch operation and stores five programs with four segments each. The heating is switched via solid-state relays, keeping operation quiet. Via NTLog Basic, process data can be recorded directly to a USB stick. The furnace is designed for a single-phase connection, the connected load is 2.6 kW. Empty and closed, it reaches Tmax minus 100 K, meaning 1,200 °C, in around 55 minutes.
Temperature uniformity and additional equipment
According to DIN 17052-1, the LT 5/13 maintains a temperature uniformity of ±5 K in the empty working chamber with the air inlet slide closed, once the operating temperature is above 800 °C. An adjustable temperature limiter with adjustable cut-off temperature can be ordered as a factory option. In addition, a protective gas connection for purging the furnace with non-flammable process gases can be ordered, it cannot be combined with the exhaust chimney variants and is not gas-tight.
Selection guide
Those who prefer a flap door in the same size can obtain the L 5/13 on request. More working volume is offered by the L 9/13 (art. no. L-095K3AL) with 9 litres and flap door, all variants are shown in the table below.
Typical applications
The series is intended for use in laboratories and research. With 5 litres of working volume and a lift door, the LT 5/13 is suitable for individual samples or small batches heated up to 1,300 °C, and for changing temperature profiles via the five program slots of the B510 controller. When the lift door is open, 320 mm are added to the external dimensions, which should be factored into installation planning.
