Product information "Restek Rt-Q-BOND PLOT Column, 30 m, 0.32 mm ID, 10 µm, 19744"
The Rt-Q-BOND is a non-polar PLOT column with 100 % divinylbenzene as the stationary phase. This version is 30 m long, with an inner diameter of 0.32 mm and a film thickness of 10 µm, and the support tube is made of fused silica. The phase is hydrophobic, and water does not affect retention times.
Gas analysis
The column separates C1 to C3 hydrocarbons as well as isomers and alkanes up to C10. In gas analysis, CO2 and methane are separated from O2, N2 and CO. At ambient temperature, the column does not separate O2, N2 and CO from one another.
Handling
Rewinding the PLOT column is not recommended. The temperature range extends from -60 °C to 280 °C isothermal and up to 300 °C programmed. The first temperature value applies to isothermal operation, the second to temperature programs.
Permanent gases
For permanent gases including carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide without cryogenic cooling, there is the micropacked ShinCarbon ST with 80/100, 2 m length and 0.53 mm ID. It also quickly separates mixtures of permanent gas and light hydrocarbons. The Rt-Q-BOND, by contrast, is a capillary PLOT column with 30 m and 0.32 mm ID.
Equivalents at a glance
Anyone switching from another brand will find the phase under the following designations:
| Manufacturer | Comparable phases |
|---|---|
| Agilent | HP-PLOT Q, PoraBOND Q, PoraPLOT Q |
| Quadrex | PLT-Q |
| Supelco/Millipore Sigma | Supel-Q-PLOT |
Dimensions
The column is 30 m long and has an inner diameter of 0.32 mm. The film thickness of 10 µm here describes the porous divinylbenzene layer.
PLOT or micropacked
Both columns are intended for gas analysis, but differ in construction.
| Column | Construction | Named fields of use |
|---|---|---|
| Rt-Q-BOND (this page) | PLOT capillary, 30 m, 0.32 mm ID, 100 % divinylbenzene | C1 to C3 hydrocarbons, alkanes up to C10, gas analysis, oxygen-containing compounds |
| ShinCarbon ST | micropacked, 80/100, 2 m, 0.53 mm ID | Permanent gases including CO and CO2 without cryogenic cooling, mixtures of permanent gas and light hydrocarbons |
Typical applications
- C1 to C3 hydrocarbons as well as isomers and alkanes up to C10
- Gas analysis: CO2 and methane are separated from O2, N2 and CO
- Oxygen-containing compounds and solvents
PLOT stands for porous layer open tubular: the phase is a porous layer on the tube wall. In the Rt-Q-BOND it consists of divinylbenzene. The designation C1 to C3 means hydrocarbons with one to three carbon atoms, and alkanes up to C10 extend to decane.
