Product information "Unigloves Blue Pearl, nitrile gloves, blue, powder-free, 1 box = 10 x 100 = 1,000 pieces – M, GP0013"
Unigloves Blue Pearl nitrile gloves are among the most established colours in the Pearl range and are one of the few Pearl gloves for which the manufacturer explicitly states Class I medical device status in the technical data sheet. Powder-free, latex-free and fully nitrile-dipped, they also stand out thanks to their touchscreen-compatible, chlorinated and phthalate-free design, three features that are documented in the technical data sheet for this colour but do not appear in other Pearl colours in this range. The Blue Pearl nitrile gloves are sold in cartons of 1,000 pieces (10 boxes of 100 pieces each), in five sizes from XS to XL.
Touchscreen-compatible, chlorinated and phthalate-free
Blue Pearl is powder-free, latex-free and also phthalate-free, a characteristic that is documented in the data sheet reviewed only for this colour in the Pearl range. Chlorination of the surface makes the glove easier to pull on, whilst also ensuring it remains touchscreen-compatible, so that tablets or analytical instruments can be operated without having to remove the gloves. The thickness is 0.07 mm at the palm and 0.10 mm at the fingertips; two out of three possible measurement points are therefore documented. The AQL value in the waterproofness test is 1.5.
Certified to EN 455 and EN ISO 374, with documented Class I medical device status
Blue Pearl complies with EN 455 (Parts 1 to 4) for single-use medical gloves, as well as EN ISO 374-4 and EN ISO 374-5 for protection against viruses, fungi and bacteria. As personal protective equipment, the glove is classified in PPE Category III, the highest category for gloves designed to protect against complex risks. Of note for procurement documentation: Blue Pearl is the only colour in this range for which the manufacturer explicitly states in the data sheet that it is a Class I medical device; this information is not provided for most of the other Pearl colours. The data sheet does not specify concrete permeation values for individual chemicals for Blue Pearl; only the test standard EN 374-4 is listed here, without numerical values. In addition, the glove is food-safe.
Sizes without a documented width specification
Blue Pearl is available in sizes XS, S, M, L and XL, each with its own manufacturer’s item number and EAN, and a length of 240 mm across all sizes. Unlike the other Pearl colours compared here, the data sheet analysed does not provide any size-specific width specifications in millimetres for Blue Pearl. If you are unsure about the correct size, we recommend comparing it with a glove size from the same Pearl range that is already in use.
Typical applications
As one of the standard colours in the Pearl range, Blue Pearl is ideal for any situation where nitrile gloves are required for continuous use:
- Day-to-day work in laboratories and clinics, where gloves are changed frequently, and where the touchscreen-compatible surface allows equipment to be operated without removing them
- Food processing, thanks to food-grade certification
- Cleaning and disinfection tasks for which Category III under EN ISO 374 is specified
- Organisations that require a documented medical device class for their procurement documentation
Where several workstations use the same base colour, blue, for example, because staff routinely work with screens and tablets there, the touchscreen-compatible surface offers a noticeable time-saving advantage over gloves without this feature.
Blue Pearl in the Unigloves product range
Blue Pearl is one of twelve colours in the Unigloves Pearl range available from us. Anyone looking for active antimicrobial surface protection in addition to the basic features will find the Crossguard Nitrile, also in blue, a variant featuring KluraLabs technology. Black Pearl is available as a dark contrasting colour for ward identification. All colours in the range share the same basic construction made from fully dipped nitrile, but differ, according to their respective data sheets, in details such as powdering, surface treatment and the scope of the documented test results.
