The thinner a glove, the more direct the sense of touch, but the more important it is that the fit is just right. With a palm thickness of at least 0.05 mm, the Unigloves Pink Pearl nitrile gloves are among the thinnest in the Pearl range, a thickness matched only by Black Pearl amongst the colours compared here. These powder-free, latex-free gloves, made from fully dipped nitrile, come in a vibrant pink, with textured fingertips for a secure grip and a rolled cuff that makes them easier to slip on. They are sold in a box of 1,000, divided into 10 boxes of 100 each, in four sizes from XS to L.

Latex-free, thiuram-free and protein-free

As gloves made entirely from nitrile, the Pink Pearl gloves are completely latex-free and, according to the manufacturer, are also thiuram-free and protein-free. This makes them a suitable choice for staff who need to take into account allergies to natural latex or sensitisation to vulcanisation accelerators (thiurams). According to the data sheet, the palm has a thickness of at least 0.05 mm, measured as a single layer in the centre of the palm; the data sheet does not specify separate values for the fingertips and cuff. The median tear strength is at least 6.0 N, both before and after artificial ageing.

Thin material for high tactile sensitivity

With a minimum palm thickness of 0.05 mm, Pink Pearl is one of the thinnest documented colours in the Pearl range. A thinner material transmits more tactile feedback to the fingertips, which is beneficial for tasks where fine movements and immediate feedback are crucial, such as when making fine stitches, during dental work at the treatment chair, or when carrying out precision work in cosmetics. The trade-off: a thinner glove is generally more susceptible to mechanical stress than a thicker material, which is why a more robust glove may be the better choice for rough or sharp-edged tasks.

Chemical protection in accordance with EN 374, Category III, Type C

Pink Pearl is certified as a chemical-protective glove in accordance with EN ISO 374-1, Category III, Type C, and also provides protection against viruses, fungi and bacteria in accordance with EN ISO 374-5. A permeation level of 6 was determined for 40 per cent sodium hydroxide solution in accordance with EN 374-4, with a degradation rate of minus 5.3 per cent. For other chemicals, the manufacturer’s product-specific chemical resistance table applies, as only this one test chemical with numerical values is listed in the data sheet.

Certified to EN 455 and PPE Category III

Pink Pearl complies with EN 455 (Parts 1 to 4) for single-use medical gloves and is manufactured under a quality management system certified to DIN EN ISO 13485:2021. The type examination was carried out in accordance with Module B and Module C2 of the PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 by the notified body CCQS (No. 2834); this combination of modules is intended exclusively for the highest PPE category, Category III. An AQL value of 1.5 applies in the 1,000 ml water-tightness test; furthermore, the glove is food-safe.

Choosing the right size: just four sizes instead of five in the LT range

The manufacturer assigns a numerical glove size to each Pink Pearl ready-to-wear size, ranging from 5 to 6 for XS to 8 to 9 for L, as confirmed directly in the product’s own data sheet. Important for ordering: At LT Laborhandel, we stock Pink Pearl in sizes XS to L. Although size XL (manufacturer’s item no. GP0055) is listed by the manufacturer, it is not part of the current LT range. Pink in the twelve-piece Pearl range

Pink Pearl is one of twelve colours in the Unigloves Pearl range available from LT Laborhandel. Amongst the warm shades in the range, Pink is lighter and more subtle than the bolder Magenta Pearl and the bright red Red Pearl. Anyone looking for the same thin material thickness as Pink Pearl but preferring a dark contrasting colour will find it in Black Pearl, which is the only other colour compared here that also achieves a palm thickness of at least 0.05 mm. All colours share the same basic construction, made from fully dipped nitrile with textured fingertips and a rolled hem.

Use, storage and disposal

The data sheet provides no information on storage conditions or shelf life; therefore, no figures are given here either. Regarding handling, the manufacturer states that this is a non-sterile, single-use glove that can be worn on either hand.

As a practical observation from day-to-day work, rather than a manufacturer’s specification: due to the thin material, particular attention is paid to damaged areas with Pink Pearl; gloves are usually changed per customer, task or process step, and at the latest at the first visible sign of damage or soiling. After use, the gloves are generally disposed of as operational waste; contaminated gloves are disposed of separately in accordance with internal regulations on hazardous substances.

The combination of thin material and a striking colour makes Pink Pearl particularly suitable for tasks requiring a high degree of tactile sensitivity:

• Dental practices and other treatment areas involving fine motor skills when working on patients

Where a more robust palm is required, such as for heavier cleaning or laboratory work, a thicker Pearl colour such as Cobalt or Green is the more suitable choice.

Assessing requirements correctly: from the carton to the treatment area

The box of 1,000 gloves is divided into 10 boxes of 100 each, so that individual boxes can be made available independently at different workstations. In a dental or beauty practice, assuming 2 pairs of gloves per treatment appointment, a box of 100 pieces, i.e. 50 pairs, covers around 25 appointments, whilst a whole carton covers 250 appointments. If consumption is higher, at 3 pairs per appointment, one box is sufficient for around 16 to 17 appointments and a whole carton for around 165 appointments. The product is sold exclusively as a whole carton; a single box of 100 cannot be selected separately during the ordering process.

Is Pink Pearl also available in size XL?
It is available from the manufacturer (item no. GP0055), but in our current LT range we only stock Pink Pearl in sizes XS to L. For XL, we recommend an alternative from the Pearl range or our procurement service.

How resistant is the glove to chemicals?
The data sheet lists a test chemical with numerical values: 40 per cent caustic soda with a permeation level of 6 and a degradation rate of minus 5.3 per cent. The data sheet does not specify a breakthrough time in minutes, only the permeation level.

Why is the palm thinner on Pink Pearl than on other colours?
According to the data sheet, it is at least 0.05 mm thick, similar in thickness to Black Pearl and thinner than colours such as Cobalt (0.09 mm) or Green Pearl (at least 0.06 mm). This increases tactile sensitivity but reduces mechanical robustness.
