The WTW SenTix 940-P digital IDS pH electrode is a highly advanced, electrochemical system solution for precise, low-maintenance pH measurement in both laboratory and field applications. Designed for use with WTW IDS multi-parameter analysers, this digital electrode ensures error-free signal transmission and comprehensive documentation. When carrying out demanding measurement series in aqueous samples, environmental analyses or industrial quality control, the elimination of signal interference caused by long cable runs is the primary criterion for guaranteeing highly precise measurements whilst minimising damage to the sample.

Intelligent IDS sensor technology and digital signal processing

The mechatronic system architecture of the SenTix 940-P is based on innovative IDS (Intelligent Digital Sensors) technology. Unlike conventional analogue probes, the sensitive analogue voltage signal is digitised and calibrated directly within the electrode’s connector head. This transient signal processing completely eliminates electromagnetic interference. An integrated data memory permanently stores the sensor’s specific serial number as well as a calibration history for up to 10 calibrations. Thanks to the intelligent QSC (Quality Sensor Control) function, the sensor continuously assesses its current status and displays this directly on the measuring instrument, guaranteeing maximum process reliability with every measurement.

Low-maintenance gel electrolyte and robust materials engineering

The material design is consistently optimised for mechanical durability and minimal maintenance intervals. The electrode features a shatterproof plastic shaft made of POM, which provides optimum protection for the sensitive glass diaphragm against mechanical impact during field measurements. A tried-and-tested gel electrolyte, combined with a fibre diaphragm, serves as the reference system. This low-maintenance system eliminates the need to top up liquid KCl electrolyte and drastically reduces the risk of diaphragm blockages, which significantly extends the sensor’s service life in multi-user operation.

Integrated temperature compensation and flexible plug-in head

To ensure precise measurement results, the SenTix 940-P features a built-in 30 kOhm NTC temperature sensor, which provides automatic, real-time temperature compensation of the pH value. A particular ergonomic highlight is the universal IDS plug-in head: the sensor can either be connected to the measuring instrument via an AS IDS-1.5 cable or fitted with a WTW radio module for completely wireless operation. This increases infrastructural flexibility in the laboratory and enables convenient measurements at hard-to-reach sample locations without restricting the user’s freedom of movement.
