Intelligent IDS sensor technology and digital signal processing

The mechatronic system architecture of the SenTix 950 is based on innovative IDS (Intelligent Digital Sensors) technology. Unlike conventional analogue probes, the sensitive analogue voltage signal is digitised and calibrated directly within the sensor. This transient signal processing completely eliminates electromagnetic interference. An integrated data memory permanently stores the sensor’s specific serial number as well as a calibration history for up to 10 calibrations. Thanks to the intelligent QSC (Quality Sensor Control) function, the sensor continuously assesses its current condition and displays this directly on the measuring instrument, guaranteeing maximum process reliability with every measurement.

Refillable liquid electrolyte and impact-resistant plastic shaft

The material design combines the outstanding mechanical resilience of an impact-resistant plastic shaft with the metrological advantages of a liquid reference system. The robust shaft provides optimum protection for the sensitive glass membrane against mechanical damage during field measurements or in the hectic day-to-day laboratory environment. A tried-and-tested liquid electrolyte (3 mol/l KCl) serves as the reference system; it can be easily refilled or completely replaced via a sealable opening. This guarantees an extremely fast response, minimises the stabilisation time and prevents measurement drifts even in changing sample media.

Integrated temperature compensation and fixed cable connection

To ensure precise measurement results, the SenTix 950 features a built-in 30 kOhm NTC temperature sensor, which provides automatic, real-time temperature compensation of the pH value. The connection to the IDS meter is via a permanently attached, 1.5-metre-long cable fitted with a waterproof, digital IDS connector. This fixed cable connection offers optimum mechanical protection against the ingress of splash water and moisture. It guarantees uninterrupted signal transmission as well as convenient and rapid handling directly at the laboratory workstation or during field measurements, without the need to manage additional connectors on the sensor.

For regular recalibration and to ensure the integrity of the metrological chain, we stock certified WTW technical buffer solutions (pH 4.01, pH 7.00, pH 10.01) in our range. For proper storage and to protect the glass membrane when the meter is not in use, we recommend the original KCl storage solution.
