Bandelin SONOPULS HD 4050 Ultrasonic Homogeniser, Rod Sonication 0.5 to 20 ml, 50 W

Small sample volumes ranging from half a millilitre to 20 millilitres are the speciality of the Bandelin SONOPULS HD 4050. The rod homogeniser, with a nominal power of 50 W and a frequency of 20 kHz, is supplied as a ready-to-use set: The GM 4200 generator, the UW 50 ultrasonic transducer, the TS 102 titanium sonotrode with a diameter of 2 mm and the sonotrode mounting tool are included.

Rod sonication for small volumes

With rod sonication, the sonotrode is immersed directly into the sample. The standard configuration of the HD 4050 is designed for sonication volumes of 0.5 to 20 ml, whilst the unit itself accommodates sample volumes from 0.5 to 100 ml. The TS 102 titanium sonotrode has a diameter of 2 mm. Further sonotrodes with diameters of 3, 4.5, 6 and 9 mm are available.

Amplitude, time and pulsation

The amplitude is adjustable from 10 to 100 %; the current value is shown on the display. The AMPLICHRON circuit ensures a constant amplitude. The sonication time can be set up to 9 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds; alternatively, the unit can operate continuously. In pulse mode, the active interval ranges from 0.2 to 600 seconds, and the rest interval from 0.3 to 600 seconds. The energy input is displayed in kilojoules, and the device can be operated remotely.

The generator in the set

Operation is handled by the SONOPULS GM 4200, which features automatic resonance frequency search, nine programme memories and an illuminated LC graphic display. As an option, it displays the sample temperature using a TM 50 temperature sensor. The set operates at 230 V~ (± 10 %), 50/60 Hz and is fitted with a CEE 7/7 mains plug. Bandelin also offers variants with UK, Swiss and US plugs, as well as a 115 V version; the model listed here is the EU variant with 230 V.

Expandable within the SONOPULS range
