Where instruments or small parts also need to be cleaned of grease and residues using heat, a cold ultrasonic bath is often not sufficient. The Bandelin SONOREX SUPER RK 100 H features its own heating system within its compact 3.0-litre capacity, making it the smallest heated model in the SUPER RK series.

Heating from 30 to 80 °C

The 140-watt heater covers a temperature range of 30 to 80 °C and is fitted with dry-run protection, which switches the heater off as soon as there is insufficient liquid in the tank. Combined with an operating frequency of 35 kHz, a peak power of 320 watts and a nominal power of 80 watts, it can remove dirt that would otherwise require more time or a more aggressive cleaning agent at room temperature.

One vibration system for 2.0 litres of working capacity

The total capacity of 3.0 litres (working capacity 2.0 litres) is subjected to ultrasonic treatment via a single vibration system, whilst the SweepTec function prevents standing waves in the tank. The tank and housing are made of 1.4301 stainless steel; the tank is 1.0 mm thick. The unit is operated via a rotary knob; the cleaning duration and bath temperature can be set independently of one another, whilst the timer ranges from 1 to 15 minutes (± 5 %) or continuous operation.

Compact and without a drain connection

As with the smaller RK 31, the data sheet for the RK 100 H makes no mention of a ball valve; ‘drain: -’ is explicitly stated in the technical specifications. With a capacity of 3.0 litres, the tank can still be easily emptied after cleaning. With external dimensions of 260 x 160 x 250 mm and a net weight of 3.5 kg, the appliance fits easily even on smaller worktops.

Decision guide: when is it worth opting for the next size up?

The RK 100 H is usually sufficient for individual instruments, spectacles or small tools. If you regularly need to clean several items at once or slightly larger objects, the RK 103 H (4.0 litres), which is slightly larger and fitted with a drain, offers a practical advantage when changing the cleaning solution. For beakers or small sieves, the RK 510 H, with a capacity of 9.7 litres, is the next step up within the SUPER RK series.

SUPER RK or smart ST: two ways to achieve the same volume

Bandelin also offers the same 3.0-litre tank size in its digital smart ST range, which features a touchscreen, fine-tuned power control and programme memory instead of a rotary knob. Those wishing to save cleaning cycles in a reproducible manner are better off with the smart ST 102 H, whilst those who prefer simple, robust operation without electronics should stick with the RK 100 H. Use and Maintenance

The 2.0-litre capacity provides space for the items to be cleaned; if filled to the brim, the tank will overflow when the items are placed inside. A concentrate from Bandelin’s TICKOPUR range is suitable for use as the cleaning fluid and is available separately via the procurement service. As the RK 100 H does not have an automatic degassing function, a short initial run in continuous operation helps to expel dissolved air from freshly prepared liquid before the items to be cleaned are loaded. After the last cycle of the day, the tank should be emptied and wiped down to prevent any cleaning agent residues from settling.
