Ultrasonic bath with heating for reliable laboratory cleaning

The Bandelin SONOREX SUPER RK 103 H is a compact ultrasonic bath with heating, featuring a total volume of 4 litres (2.7 litres usable capacity) and an operating frequency of 35 kHz. The ultrasonic bath delivers a peak power of 560 watts at a rated power of 140 watts, ensuring powerful and consistent performance. The integrated 200-watt heater allows bath temperatures ranging from 30 to 80 °C, making it suitable even for more demanding cleaning tasks where heat further enhances the cleaning effect. Thanks to the automatic SweepTec function, standing waves in the ultrasonic field are prevented, ensuring that cleaning performance is evenly distributed throughout the entire tank volume. This makes the ultrasonic bath with heater equally suitable for occasional spot cleaning tasks as well as for regular use in day-to-day laboratory operations.

Applications in everyday laboratory work

Typical applications for an ultrasonic bath of this size include the cleaning of instruments, such as forceps, scissors or smaller surgical and clinical instruments, as well as the degassing of solvents prior to analytical procedures. The SONOREX SUPER RK 103 H is also suitable for cleaning laboratory glassware and small parts such as cuvettes, filter holders, valves or sample holders, as the combination of ultrasound and heating reliably dissolves dirt, grease and residues without subjecting the components to mechanical stress. With a total volume of 4 litres and a usable capacity of 2.7 litres, the unit is well suited to small to medium-sized batches and can be flexibly integrated into existing workflows, for example as a supplement to larger ultrasonic baths for smaller batches or individual samples. As the bath temperature is individually adjustable, the cleaning process can also be adapted to different levels of soiling and cleaning media.

Operation, Features and Safety

Cleaning time and bath temperature are set using simple rotary knobs: the timer covers a range of 1 to 15 minutes (±5 per cent) and also offers continuous operation for longer cleaning cycles. A fill level indicator makes it easy to fill the tank correctly, whilst a side-mounted drain tap (G 1/4 ball valve with a 25 cm hose) ensures simple and clean emptying of the bath without having to lift the unit. The tank and housing are made of 1.4301 stainless steel with a wall thickness of 1.0 mm, making them robust and resistant to many cleaning agents used in everyday laboratory work. The unit is classified as a Class I medical device in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/745 and complies with the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU; the housing is protected to IP 32. Suitable accessories such as insert baskets, insert grids, lids, a device holder or film test frames are available separately if required.
