Brand Transferpette S Variable Single-Channel Pipette, 0.5-5 ml, DE-M, 705882

Before a medium change, the cell culture supernatant must first be removed, and its amount varies with flask size and fill level. The Brand Transferpette S variable D-5000 covers 0.5-5 ml with an increment of 5 µl.

Continuously adjustable with 5 µl increment

The Transferpette S variable 0.5-5 ml (model D-5000) covers the volume range 0.5-5 ml in steps of 5 µl. The volume is set with a dial without tools, and a lockable position (UNLOCK/LOCK) prevents accidental adjustment during serial work. To match the volume range, Brand recommends the pipette tip size 500-5000 µl. In total, the variable Transferpette S series comprises ten volume sizes from 0.1 µl to 10 ml, so a suitable model from the same range can be combined for almost every working range. One range smaller is the Transferpette S variable 100-1000 µl (D-1000, MPN 705880). One range larger follows the Transferpette S variable 1-10 ml (D-10000, MPN 705884).

Accuracy to DIN EN ISO 8655

The accuracy is verified to DIN EN ISO 8655 at three test points, at the full, half and one tenth of the nominal volume. At the full nominal volume, the accuracy A is up to ±0.6 %, at half up to ±0.8 % and at one tenth up to ±3 %. The coefficient of variation CV is correspondingly up to 0.2 %, 0.3 % and 0.6 %. The three test points show that the accuracy decreases towards the lower end of the volume range, an effect that occurs with every air displacement pipette and should be taken into account when choosing the suitable model. The DE-M marking confirms the testing under German weights and measures law. The accuracy A describes the deviation of the average dispensed volume from the target value, and the coefficient of variation CV the scatter of several repetitions at this volume.

Tool-free adjustment with Easy Calibration

If the calibration drifts during operation, it can be readjusted directly on the pipette without tools using Easy Calibration, via the adjustment slider under the label window. A red bar in the display window indicates a changed factory setting.

Fully autoclavable

For sterile work, the pipette can be autoclaved in the assembled state, as a complete unit, at 121 degrees Celsius and 2 bar, with a holding time of at least 15 minutes to DIN EN 285.

Variable or fixed: which design fits

The amount of cell culture supernatant removed before the medium change depends on the fill level of the respective flask, and the variable Transferpette S D-5000 suits this. If exactly the same volume is always removed, for example with standardised flask sizes, a Transferpette S Fix from the same range is sufficient. For the D-5000 with its range of 0.5-5 ml, the specific working step therefore decides whether variable or fixed is the more suitable design.
