Product information "Bürkle foot-operated solvent pump with outlet hose and tap, V2A stainless steel, for drums up to 220 L, 5603-3000"
If the receiving container is not positioned directly next to the drum, but on a shelf, in a tray or slightly to one side, a rigid discharge elbow will quickly reach its limits. The foot-operated solvent pump with discharge hose and tap solves this problem with a 1-metre-long, flexible hose: It can be routed freely and positioned precisely into a narrow canister opening or over the rim of a taller container, whilst both hands remain free because the pump is operated via a foot pedal.
Flexible hose instead of a rigid elbow
Instead of a fixed elbow, the delivery line here ends in a flexible PTFE hose with its own shut-off valve. The pedal is operated in the same way as with the outlet elbow version; the excess pressure in the drum forces the solvent upwards through the dip tube, but ultimately the operator decides where the hose points, rather than being constrained by the fixed geometry of an elbow. The separate shut-off valve at the end of the hose is positioned exactly where the hand needs it when aiming at the container.
For steel drums up to 220 litres with a G2-inch thread
The pump fits steel drums with a G2-inch external thread and is suitable for containers up to around 220 litres. The 21-millimetre-thick dip tube can be continuously adjusted to the depth of the drum; at full immersion, it extends up to 95 centimetres into the drum. The flow rate and viscosity limit, at around 20 litres per minute and up to 500 mPa·s, are on a par with those of the elbow-outlet version; only the final metre to the target container is flexible rather than rigid. The 13-millimetre outer diameter of the outlet fits the same canister and funnel openings as the rigid version.
When the hose makes the difference
A fixed outlet elbow is more stable and requires no guidance, making it well-suited when the target container is positioned directly beneath the pump. For precisely this purpose, the foot-operated solvent pump with outlet elbow is available, an identically constructed variant featuring the same pump body. The hose on this model, on the other hand, comes into its own where the distance to the drum varies, for example, when filling several containers in different positions one after the other, or when a narrow canister opening is only accessible from the side.
Materials and safety when handling flammable liquids
Parts in contact with the medium, made from stainless steel 1.4301 (V2A) and PTFE, are chemically resistant to high-purity solvents. Bürkle draws attention to the explosion protection guidelines for this pump when handling flammable, highly flammable liquids: all parts must be earthed; an anti-static kit is also recommended.
If compressed air or another material is required
If compressed air or an inert gas is available and the immersion depth is to be freely selected between 60 and 95 centimetres, the solvent extraction system with discharge hose covers the same discharge type with a complete system including a pressure regulator. Where particularly aggressive or high-purity media are involved, for which stainless steel is not suitable, the Ultrapure PTFE drum pump with a hose and tap made of PTFE and FEP is the more chemically resistant alternative.
Typical applications
- Filling high-purity solvents into containers positioned offset or at a higher level
- Workstations with changing target containers, which the hose can reach flexibly
- Frequent, repetitive filling whilst keeping both hands free for handling the receiving container
- Steel drums with G2-inch threads in laboratories, warehouses or production facilities

Service and procurement
If you are unsure whether the rigid elbow or the flexible hose is better suited to your particular setup, you can often order both versions initially to compare them or for different workstations with varying container arrangements. We can advise you on your choice and on spare parts such as hoses, shut-off valves or foot pedals.
