Bürkle Jumbo Collector, Zone Collector, All-layer, aluminium, 850 mm, 5319-1085

Product information "Bürkle Jumbo Collector, Zone Collector, All-layer, aluminium, 850 mm, 5319-1085"

Anyone who needs to take a representative composite sample from a large silo or a full big bag over a depth of several metres requires more volume than a standard all-layer sampler can provide. With a 50-millimetre tube diameter and large-volume chambers, the Jumbo All-Layer Sampler offers significantly greater capacity and is designed for coarse-grained bulk materials in larger quantities. Three lengths, ranging from 850 to 2,500 millimetres in penetration depth, cover containers from barrels to tall silos, meaning that even with very large stock quantities, a single, deep sample can be taken instead of several shorter ones.

Open inner tube for the composite sample

As with the smaller all-layer sampler, the inner tube remains open without any chamber partitions, ensuring that a homogeneous composite sample is obtained across the entire insertion depth during sampling. The material falls freely into the tube without being slowed down by separators, which prevents jamming in the case of very coarse-grained or lumpy bulk materials. If, on the other hand, a separate sample is required for each depth zone, the structurally identical Jumbo Collector Multi with separate chambers is the right choice.

Large volume for large containers

The tube and chambers are significantly larger than those of the standard all-layer sampler, with a tube diameter of 50 millimetres instead of 25 millimetres and a chamber length of 100 millimetres instead of 80 to 100 millimetres. This allows sample volumes of between 880 and 2,400 millilitres per puncture to be taken even from very large containers such as big bags or filled silos, without the need for multiple punctures. This saves time compared with making several individual punctures using a smaller sampler. For smaller containers, the more compact Aluminium All-Layer Sampler is usually sufficient.

Three lengths up to 2,500 millimetres

The shortest version achieves a penetration depth of 850 millimetres with three collection openings and a sample volume of 880 millilitres. The medium-length version, with five openings, has a penetration depth of 1,500 millimetres and a volume of 1,600 millilitres. The longest version, with seven openings, penetrates to a depth of 2,500 millimetres and draws up to 2,400 millilitres of sample, making it suitable for tall silos or deeply stacked big bags.

Material and handling

The tube is made of aluminium, whilst the load-bearing parts are made of stainless steel 1.4301 (V2A). This combination withstands the mechanical penetration of dense, coarse-grained bulk materials whilst remaining lighter than a fully steel version of the same length – a difference that is particularly noticeable over the course of a working day with the 2.5-metre-long version. When taking samples several times a day from tall silos, the reduced weight is particularly noticeable, as the lance must be lifted and guided along its entire length.

Choice between all-layer and separate-chamber designs

The decision between the all-layer and multi-chamber versions depends on the specific requirements. If a representative composite sample across the entire depth is sufficient, the all-layer sampler provides it in a single operation. If, on the other hand, it is necessary to determine the exact depth at which a deviation occurs – such as a damper layer at the bottom of a silo – the separate chambers of the multi-chamber sampler are required. Both series share the same pipe diameter, chamber length and length options, meaning that accessories and handling are virtually identical between them.

Typical applications

  • Representative composite sampling from large silos, bunkers and big bags
  • Incoming goods inspection of large batches of bulk materials in the food and feed industries
  • Checking the uniformity of mixing after filling large containers
  • Sampling in industrial sectors requiring high sample volumes per puncture
  • Replacing multiple individual sampling points with a single, deep sampling

Service and procurement

The correct length depends on the vessel height and the required sample volume per puncture. LT Laborhandel orders each of the three lengths individually and can advise on whether an open mixed sample is sufficient or whether the separate zone sample from the Jumbo Multi sampler would be more appropriate. If you have any queries regarding the appropriate model or how it differs from the more compact Spiralus zone sampler, please contact LT Laborhandel for further assistance.
