For very small items to be cleaned, such as a pair of tweezers, small components or pieces of jewellery, a large ultrasonic bath is often not worth the investment. With a tank capacity of 0.9 l, the Elma Elmasonic Easy 10H is the smallest model in the Easy series and fits on any laboratory bench without compromising on heating.

Smallest tank in the Easy series

The tank holds 0.9 l; a working volume of 0.7 l is recommended, with internal dimensions of 185 x 80 x 55 mm. Elma does not offer an insert lid for this size in its range of accessories; insert lids are only listed for tank sizes 30/40 and above. A modular cleaning basket 10 (Item No. 1117923) and a Hostalen tank (Item No. 2070390000) specially manufactured for this model are available as accessories; for smaller workpieces, the basket is usually sufficient without an additional tank insert.

Operation and performance

Like the entire Easy series, the unit is operated via an analogue rotary knob with ten fixed time settings ranging from 1 to 30 minutes or continuous operation for up to 6 hours; LED indicators show the status. The ultrasonic power is 30 watts RMS with a peak power of 240 watts; the heating element covers a range of 25 to 80 degrees Celsius with a heating power of 60 watts. The unit does not have a drain outlet; however, with a volume of 0.9 l, the tank can be emptied by hand without much effort.

Compact footprint, clear benefits

With external dimensions of 235 x 130 x 200 mm and a weight of 2.2 kilograms, the Easy 10H takes up hardly any space on the laboratory bench and can be moved between different workstations as required. For individual instruments, small-batch components or small laboratory parts that do not occur in large quantities, the unit is quickly ready for use without the need to fill a larger tank with cleaning solution.

Workflow with the small bath

With a volume of 0.9 l, the bath is quickly filled and just as quickly drained again, making the Easy 10H practical for workstations where different small parts are cleaned several times a day. The rotary knob with fixed time settings from 1 to 30 minutes covers most cleaning steps; for longer applications, continuous operation for up to 6 hours is also available. As no programme is stored, the unit is particularly suitable for tasks with varying but short cleaning times.

Material and operating environment

As with the larger Easy models, the tank is made of stainless steel and is compatible with the aqueous cleaning concentrates commonly used in laboratories. The IP20 protection rating means that the housing is not protected against external splashes; the unit should therefore be placed on a dry work surface rather than directly next to a sink. Weighing 2.2 kilograms, it can be carried between workstations without any aids, which is practical when moving between different locations within a laboratory.

Choice within the Elma ranges

If the 0.9-litre capacity is insufficient for the volumes involved, the larger Easy 30H, with a 2.7-litre capacity, can handle more items for cleaning, whilst retaining the same rotary knob operation. Those requiring Sweep, Pulse or Degas functions will find these in Elma’s Select or P series. When the small model is worth it

An ultrasonic bath with a tank volume of 27.5 or 28 l is not practical for cleaning just a pair of tweezers or a handful of small parts; the effort involved in changing the cleaning medium and water is out of proportion to the quantity. The Easy 10H fills this gap for workstations where small quantities are processed, without the need to purchase a larger unit with a correspondingly larger footprint. Where larger quantities or bulkier parts are cleaned on a regular basis, a model with a greater capacity is the more suitable choice, such as the Easy 30H from the same series.
