Elma Elmasonic Select 150 Ultrasonic Bath with Heating, 14.6 Litre, 37 kHz, 1106993

Chips, grinding and polishing pastes and flux residues are among the contaminants the Select series removes. The Elma Elmasonic Select 150 is the version with a large footprint: the tank measures 485 x 280 x 95 mm. The total volume is 14.6 litres and the recommended working volume 8.7 litres, because the fill level is only 65 mm. Ultrasonic power and frequency: 300 W effective at 37 kHz.

Shallow tank, large basket

35 mm remain between the basket floor and the liquid level. The original accessory basket has internal dimensions of 455 x 250 x 45 mm and carries up to 7 kg. Externally the unit measures 575 x 360 x 230 mm with lid, and the weight is 8.8 kg. Compared with the Select 180 with a tank height of 195 mm, the tank is 100 mm shallower in height, but the footprint at 485 x 280 mm is considerably larger than 300 x 270 mm. The plastic lid in the scope of delivery can be turned upside down and used as a drip tray for the basket.

Performance data and modes

The ultrasonic peak power is 1,200 W, the heater delivers 800 W, and the total power consumption is 1,100 W. Eco, Sweep, Pulse, Dynamic and Degas can be selected, plus four programs that can be saved. Pulse increases the peak power, Sweep distributes the cleaning effect evenly, and Dynamic combines both. Further functions are available with Auto-Degas and temperature-controlled start. The heating is adjustable from 25 to 80 °C, and the duration from 1 minute to 6 hours. At 800 W, the heating power is twice as high as on the Select 100 and equal to that of the Select 120 and 180.

Operation and protection

The unit is operated via a large display and a swipe-type membrane keypad, and it confirms inputs acoustically. The limit temperature can be set between 40 and 60 °C. The G 3/8 inch drain connection is opened with a rotary switch, and the DN10 hose nozzle is part of the scope of delivery. Dry-run protection works when the heating is active, and after 8 hours the unit switches off. With lid, the sound pressure level at a distance of 1 m is below 80 dB(A) and the ultrasonic pressure level below 110 dB.

Placement: shallow and large versus tall and smaller

The Elmasonic Select 180 holds 17.8 litres and is built taller at 300 x 270 x 195 mm, but has only 200 W effective ultrasonic power compared with 300 W on the Select 150. The Elmasonic Select 300 has a tank of 475 x 270 x 195 mm, 27.5 litres, 22 litres working volume and 1,200 W heating power. At 485 mm, the tank of the Select 150 is by comparison 10 mm longer and 10 mm deeper, but 100 mm lower in height.
