3.2 mm in diameter, 1,000 mm in length, 5 kg: this is how the OK Tigrod 12.64, with the reference number 126432R150, is packaged. It is the same TIG filler metal as in the 1.6 mm, 2.0 mm and 2.4 mm versions, but with a larger diameter. It is intended for unalloyed and low-alloy steels.
Filler metal in detail
The rod is copper-clad and classified as G4Si1 / ER70S-6. The wire is a carbon-manganese steel containing 0.074% C, 1.68% Mn and 0.95% Si. Analysis shows that the weld metal contains 0.08% C, 1.28% Mn, 0.80% Si, 0.013% S and 0.015% P. Argon (I1, EN ISO 14175) is specified as the shielding gas. The rods are each 1,000 mm long and are supplied in packs of 5 kg.
Selection criteria
According to EN, the yield strength of the untreated weld metal is 525 MPa (AWS 510 MPa), the tensile strength is 595 MPa (AWS 610 MPa) and the elongation at break is 26 per cent (AWS 30 per cent). At -40 °C, the notched impact energy is 150 J, and at -50 °C it is still 90 J. The classification according to EN ISO 636-A is W 4Si1 for the wire and W 46 5 4Si1 for the weld metal.

Classification, analysis and characteristic values are the same for all four diameters in the range. The 2.4 mm version has the same values, but a smaller rod diameter. The diameter best suited to the task depends on the weld preparation and welding current.
