Frequently asked questions
Is label 6.2 sufficient on its own? That depends on the contents. The ADR also requires all hazard labels that correspond to the properties of the contents. This could be label 6.1 or label 8, for example, depending on the substance.
How does 6.2 differ from 6.1? Label 6.1 features a skull and crossbones, whilst 6.2 features the biohazard symbol consisting of three crescents around a circle. The number 6 at the bottom is the same for both.
Who affixes the label? The ADR assigns responsibility for compliance with the regulations on marking and labelling to the packer (1.4.3.2 b); the consignor ensures that packaging bearing the prescribed markings is used.
