Product information "Heidolph Reax control Vortex Mixer, Small Sample Dish, up to 2,500 rpm, 541-11000-00"
Some samples cannot tolerate coarse speed adjustments. Cell cultures and other shear-sensitive materials require a speed that can be precisely repeated and remains consistently stable at lower speeds. The Reax control is the variant of the Reax series featuring a scaled speed display, designed precisely for those instances where a value must be reproduced accurately rather than merely approximated. On the other hand, if you only need to set the speed roughly by feel, you will usually reach your goal more quickly with the simpler basic model in the range.
Scaled display instead of an estimated value
Instead of a simple memorised scale, the Reax control features a speed scale on the control knob, allowing the set value to be read directly. The manufacturer describes the control system as electronic with a scaled speed display, ensuring that applications requiring a specific speed are agitated more gently. In the low speed range, the speed remains constant, which is particularly beneficial for organisms sensitive to shear forces. The speed range extends from 0 to 2,500 revolutions per minute, meaning that even very low speeds can be accurately set for sensitive samples.
Same design as the Reax top
In terms of housing, motion type and shaking orbit, the Reax control does not differ from the base model: 134 x 105 x 172 millimetres, weighing 2.8 kilograms, with a circular vibrating motion featuring a 5-millimetre orbit, driven by a shaded-pole motor with a power consumption of 51 watts and self-resetting overheating protection. Anyone already using the Reax top who needs a second unit for samples with tighter tolerances can operate both models side by side on a shelf without having to get used to a different design. If, instead of a single tube, a whole set of vessels needs to be processed at the same time, the Multi Reax from the same series can handle up to 26 tubes in a single run.
Accessories for test tubes and sample vials
The small holding tray is designed for individual vessels. Those who regularly work with a fixed number of test tubes can supplement the Reax control with a holding rack for 10 test tubes or a holding rod with a vessel holder, both of which are standalone accessories from the Reax series. A holder for reagent vessels or a larger holding tray can also be added at a later date if the requirements of day-to-day laboratory work change, without the need for a new base unit.
Typical applications
The scaled display proves its worth wherever a method specifies a particular speed or where results must remain comparable across multiple runs.
- Mixing shear-sensitive cell suspensions at a constant, repeatable speed
- Reproducible sample preparation according to a specified method
- Mixing of reagents where excessive shaking must be avoided
- A secondary unit alongside a Reax top for samples with more stringent speed requirements

Scope of delivery
The scope of delivery for the Reax control with small sample tray includes the main unit fitted with the small sample tray. A larger support plate, as well as test tube racks and test tube holders, are separate accessories and are not included in this delivery, nor is the reagent vessel holder, which is useful for larger batches.
Regulatory information
The device is an electrical appliance within the meaning of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG). The WEEE registration number of the manufacturer, Heidolph Scientific Products GmbH, is DE 50705753. Information on the return of end-of-life equipment can be found on our Environment and Disposal page.
Warranty and procurement service
Heidolph Scientific Products GmbH, Schwabach, provides a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This excludes glass and wear parts, damage caused during transport and damage resulting from improper use. If the equipment is registered with Heidolph, the warranty commences on the date of purchase; otherwise, it commences on the date of manufacture as indicated by the serial number. Your statutory warranty rights remain unaffected. Our procurement service can, if required, put together suitable accessories such as test tube racks, holding rods with vessel holders or the larger holding tray.
