Heidolph Reax top Vortexer, Small Sample Dish, up to 3,200 rpm, 541-10000-00

Product information "Heidolph Reax top Vortexer, Small Sample Dish, up to 3,200 rpm, 541-10000-00"

Anyone who regularly needs to mix a solution quickly in the laboratory doesn’t need a vortex mixer with a programme memory, but a device that responds immediately. The Reax top is designed precisely for this purpose: simply press the tubes onto the small holding tray, and the circular vibration with a 5-millimetre shaking orbit starts immediately and stops as soon as the vessel is lifted away again. For longer runs, the same vortex mixer can be operated in continuous mode, for example to gently but effectively dislodge stubborn cell pellets.

Short-term and continuous operation via the same plate

The support plate enables both operating modes. Brief contact triggers short-term operation, which stops automatically as soon as the vessel is lifted away again, handy for quickly mixing individual samples between other steps in the workflow. If the vessel is held in contact continuously, the Reax top continues to run in continuous operation at up to 2,500 or 3,200 revolutions per minute, depending on the mains voltage variant of the unit (230 V at 50 Hz, 230 V or 115 V at 60 Hz). The speed is set using an analogue scale on the control knob. Once a value has been set, it can be selected again for the next run using the mark on the scale, without needing to access a menu or use a digital display.

Slot-pole motor with self-resetting overheating protection

The Reax top is driven by a shaded-pole motor that remains reliable even during continuous operation. A self-resetting overheat protection automatically interrupts operation if the temperature becomes too high and re-enables the motor once it has cooled down, without the need to replace a fuse. Measuring 134 x 105 x 172 millimetres and weighing 2.8 kilograms, the unit takes up little space on the worktop and can be quickly moved to another workstation if required. Power consumption is 51 watts.

Reax top or Reax control

If you only need to set the speed roughly, the Reax top’s mark scale will suffice. However, if you require repeatable, precise values or a particularly uniform speed that remains constant at lower settings for shear-sensitive samples, the Reax control with electronic speed control is the better choice. Both units share the same dimensions and a 5-millimetre shaking orbit. If several vessels need to be mixed simultaneously rather than one after the other, the Multi Reax for 12 or 26 tubes is the more suitable choice. For mixing tasks involving larger vessels and quick-clamping technology, the overhead shaker Reax 2 incl. universal adapter is also available; this is a different category of instrument with a different operating principle.

Typical applications

The small sample tray makes the Reax top ideal for quick, one-handed operation during routine work, without the need to select a programme or set a time beforehand.

  • Brief mixing of solutions and buffers between other work steps
  • Resuspending and dissolving cell pellets in continuous operation
  • Homogenisation of highly viscous media
  • Routine mixing of individual test tubes or sample tubes in biology and chemistry laboratories

Scope of delivery

The Reax top with small sample tray is included in the scope of delivery, along with the main unit fitted with the small sample tray. A larger sample tray, as well as test tube racks and test tube holders, are separate accessories and are not included in this delivery.

Regulatory information

The device is an electrical appliance within the meaning of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG). The WEEE registration number of the manufacturer, Heidolph Scientific Products GmbH, is DE 50705753. Information on the return of end-of-life equipment can be found on our Environment and Disposal page.

Warranty and procurement service

Heidolph Scientific Products GmbH, Schwabach, provides a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This excludes glass and wear parts, damage caused during transport and damage resulting from improper use. If the equipment is registered with Heidolph, the warranty commences on the date of purchase; otherwise, it commences on the date of manufacture as indicated by the serial number. Your statutory warranty rights remain unaffected. Our procurement service can, if required, put together suitable accessories such as test tube racks, holding rods with vessel holders or the larger holding tray.
