Heidolph Rotamax 120 Platform Shaker, Rotary Motion, 20 to 300 rpm, 544-41200-00

Product information "Heidolph Rotamax 120 Platform Shaker, Rotary Motion, 20 to 300 rpm, 544-41200-00"

Not every shaking application requires the fine, high-frequency motion of the Titramax or Vibramax models. Instead, the Rotamax 120 moves the platform in a circular rotation with a large orbit of 20 millimetres and a comparatively low speed of 20 to 300 revolutions per minute; this is suitable for large-area, homogeneous mixing without the high frequencies of its vibrating sister models.

Rotational rather than vibrating motion

The shaded-pole motor drives the platform in a circular rotation with an orbit of 20 millimetres, continuously adjustable between 20 and 300 revolutions per minute. This type of motion distributes samples over a wide area and evenly, unlike the circular vibrating motion of the Titramax and Vibramax, which have significantly smaller orbits of 1.5 to 3 millimetres. The timer can be set to limit runs to up to 120 minutes, with an audible signal at the end; for longer processes, the unit continues to run in continuous operation.

Compact chassis with expandable accessories

Measuring 245 x 125 x 310 millimetres and weighing 5.5 kilograms, the Rotamax 120 shares its chassis with the Titramax 100 and the Vibramax 100. The working area of 220 x 220 millimetres accommodates samples weighing up to 2 kilograms; an optional attachment with clamping rollers, a shelf with universal perforations and a clamp for 25-millilitre Erlenmeyer flasks extend the platform to accommodate larger or smaller vessels. With a power consumption of 33 watts, the sound pressure level remains below 50 dB(A); this is the highest power consumption among the three compact chassis models: the Titramax 100, Vibramax 100 and Rotamax 120.

Environmental conditions for laboratory operation

The Rotamax 120 is designed for ambient temperatures of 5 to 31 degrees Celsius at up to 80 per cent relative humidity; at higher temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius, the permissible humidity decreases linearly to 50 per cent. It is intended for installation at altitudes of up to 2,000 metres above sea level, as well as for overvoltage category II and pollution degree 2; the unit compensates for mains voltage fluctuations of up to 10 per cent without any loss of function.

Typical applications

  • Large-scale, homogeneous mixing of samples
  • Shaking tests at lower speeds than with vibrating models
  • Use with a tension roller attachment for different container sizes
  • Laboratory routines where a rotating rather than a vibrating motion is required

Distinction within the 1000 series

Those who require a circular vibrating motion for cell cultures or microtitre plates will find it in the Titramax 100 or the more powerful Titramax 101. The Vibramax 100 also utilises the compact chassis, but with a vibrating rather than a rotating orbit. Within the range, the Rotamax 120 remains the model for rotating, low-speed motion.
