Solubility studies and leaching tests require a shaker that can securely hold even larger containers whilst agitating them vigorously enough to actually dissolve the substances. An orbit that is too gentle leaves solids at the bottom of the vessel, whilst a frame that is too small limits the sizes of containers that can be used. The Vibramax 100 operates with a circular vibration and an orbit of 3 millimetres, and can be fitted with an optional clamping roller attachment to accommodate different container sizes.

Powerful agitation for suspension and solubility tests

According to the data sheet, the shaded-pole motor covers a speed range of 150 to 2,500 revolutions per minute, with analogue adjustment. This makes the Vibramax 100 suitable for suspension, solubility studies and investigations into the leaching of materials. A timer limits runs to a maximum of 120 minutes with an audible signal; in continuous operation, the unit runs without a time limit.

Accessories for different vessel sizes

The optional attachment with clamping rollers allows larger containers, such as Erlenmeyer flasks or bottles, to be secured in addition to the non-slip rubber mat, even at high speeds. For smaller vessels, a tray with universal perforations and a clamp for 25-millilitre Erlenmeyer flasks are available; the platform can thus be reconfigured depending on the sample without changing the base unit. As the various accessories are mounted on the same base plate, switching between open vessels and the clamping roller assembly requires just a few simple steps. According to the manufacturer, these same accessories also fit the structurally identical Rotamax 120; anyone operating both instruments in the same laboratory can swap the tray, clamps and clamping roller assembly between the shakers as required.

Compact chassis, split design

Dimensions (245 x 125 x 310 millimetres), weight (5.5 kilograms) and working area (220 x 220 millimetres) are the same as those of the Titramax 100 and the Rotamax 120; all three share the same compact chassis from the 1000 series. With a power consumption of 31 watts, the sound pressure level remains below 50 dB(A), whilst a self-resetting overheating protection system ensures safe operation. The operating ambient temperature range is 5 to 31 degrees Celsius at up to 80 per cent relative humidity; at higher temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius, the permissible humidity decreases linearly to 50 per cent; the unit is designed for installation at altitudes of up to 2,000 metres above sea level, as well as for overvoltage category II and pollution degree 2; it compensates for mains voltage fluctuations of up to 10 per cent without any loss of function.
