Designed as a high-performance complete system, this setup is validated for continuous stirring tasks up to a volume of 10 litres (based on water). For demanding thermal syntheses, the digestion of aggressive media or sample preparation, the precise interplay between high thermal energy input and a completely chemical-resistant work surface is the primary criterion for guaranteeing reliable experimental procedures that are gentle on the material and ensure process reliability.
Highly chemically resistant glass-ceramic heating plate and powerful drive
The process engineering foundation of the unit is the square heating plate (180 x 180 mm) made from seamless, high-quality glass-ceramic. This choice of material ensures unrivalled chemical resilience against extremely aggressive acids, alkalis and high-purity solvents. Furthermore, the non-porous glass surface enables gentle, residue-free cleaning. With a powerful heating output of 1,000 watts, the system achieves extremely short heat-up times to a plate temperature of 500 degrees Celsius. The integrated motor covers a wide speed range from 100 to 1,500 revolutions per minute and, thanks to strong magnetic coupling, reliably keeps the magnetic stir bar on track even with more viscous solutions.
Precise temperature control via the integrated ETS-D5 contact thermometer
The standout feature of the “Package” version is the IKA ETS-D5 electronic contact thermometer included as standard. The precision sensor is connected directly to the magnetic stirrer’s electronics via the integrated DIN 12878 socket. The sensor is immersed gently into the sample medium and reports the actual temperature in real time. This mechatronic control loop enables highly precise temperature control directly within the liquid, with outstanding control accuracy of ±0.5 K. Thermodynamic overshoots and unwanted overheating of sensitive samples are thus effectively eliminated during day-to-day field use.
Ergonomic housing design and uncompromising health and safety
The structural safety of the C-MAG HS 7 complies with strict GLP guidelines for long-term laboratory operation. The user interface features a raised control panel, which reliably protects the underlying electronics and displays from dripping or spilled liquids. An easy-to-read digital LED display accurately shows the set target temperature, whilst a digital error code mode immediately visualises any malfunctions. The integrated ‘Hot Top’ warning indicator ensures maximum occupational safety: a visual signal flashes for as long as the plate surface is heated to over 50 degrees Celsius – even after the unit has been switched off completely. A fixed safety cut-off at 550 degrees Celsius also prevents thermal damage to the heating mat.
