Product information "IKA C-MAG HS 7 Package Magnetic Stirrer with Heating, Ceramic Plate, incl. ETS-D5 and Stand Accessories, 0010016454"
Anyone setting up a laboratory workstation from scratch does not want to have to search for the base unit, temperature probe and stand components separately across different orders and check them for compatibility. The IKA C-MAG HS 7 Package (0010016454) combines the tried-and-tested C-MAG HS 7 heating magnetic stirrer with an ETS-D5 contact thermometer, a stand rod, a support rod and a boss head into a ready-to-use combination, thereby saving the hassle of ordering and assembling each component separately.
Tried-and-tested base unit with 1,000 watts of heating power
The technical specifications of the base unit included in the package correspond exactly to those of the C-MAG HS 7, which is available separately: 10-litre maximum stirring capacity, 1,000-watt heating power, a heating temperature range of 50 to 500 °C with 5 Kelvin setting accuracy, and a 180 x 180-millimetre ceramic base. The stirring drive covers a speed range of 100 to 1,500 revolutions per minute via a six-step scale, whilst a fixed safety circuit limits the hotplate temperature to a maximum of 550 °C.
ETS-D5 contact thermometer already included in the set
Unlike the C-MAG HS 7, which is available separately, this package already includes an ETS-D5 electronic contact thermometer. It can be connected directly via the DIN 12878 connection socket and enables temperature control within the medium rather than just on the plate surface, a feature that would need to be retrofitted separately if the base unit were purchased on its own.
Stand accessories for immediate installation of the sensor
For the mechanical mounting of the contact thermometer, the package includes an H 16 V stand rod, an H 38 support rod and an H 44 boss head, so that the probe can be fixed directly above the stirring vessel without the need to purchase additional stand components.
Same operation as with the single unit
Despite the additional components, the operation of the base unit itself remains unchanged: speed and heating temperature are still adjusted via two separate controls; the six-step scale for speed and the rotary knob for heating temperature remain identical to those on the standard C-MAG HS 7. Anyone who has already worked with a C-MAG HS 7 will find their way around this package without needing any training; the contact thermometer is an additional, but independent, feature.
Typical applications
As a fully equipped set, the C-MAG HS 7 Package is technically suitable for:
- Setting up new laboratory workstations without existing stand or probe accessories
- Syntheses and reactions with temperature control directly within the medium from the very first use
- Training and education laboratories that require a complete, ready-to-use kit
- Replacement procurement for workstations where the main unit and accessories are replaced together
- Batches of up to 10 litres requiring a reproducible medium temperature
Selection guide: Package or individual unit
Whether the package or the individual C-MAG HS 7 offers better value for money depends primarily on whether the laboratory already has temperature sensors and stand equipment:
| Version | Basic unit | ETS-D5 sensor | Stand accessories | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| C-MAG HS 7 Package (this product) | included | included | included (H16V, H38, H44) | New installation without existing accessories |
| C-MAG HS 7 (single unit) | included | to be procured separately | to be procured separately | Existing laboratories with existing accessories |
Anyone who already has stand material and a compatible temperature sensor will save money by purchasing the basic unit on its own rather than the package, as they won’t have to pay for duplicate accessories.
Differences from the other C-MAG-HS-7 models
The IKA C-MAG HS 7 offers the same base unit without a sensor or stand accessories, for laboratories that already have these components. For those who, in addition to the package’s standard features, require an LCD display, interfaces and a larger 20-litre stirring capacity, the IKA C-MAG HS 7 control is available. For larger installation areas of up to 260 x 260 millimetres, the IKA C-MAG HS 10 is available.

Use, installation, maintenance and disposal
With an IP 21 protection rating, the base unit is protected against vertically falling water droplets and is designed for use in a fume hood or on a sturdy laboratory bench. When assembling the stand, the ETS-D5 sensor should be positioned so that it does not collide with the magnetic stir bar during stirring, and its correct reading should be checked against a suitable reference before first use. The boss head and support rod can be readjusted at any time after initial assembly if necessary, without the need to disconnect the main unit from the mains. The ceramic surface is chemical-resistant, but should be allowed to cool before cleaning. At the end of their service life, as electrical appliances, the main unit and contact thermometer must not be disposed of with household waste but must be placed in the separate collection for waste electrical and electronic equipment; the manufacturer’s WEEE registration number is DE 66784213.
Investment rationale: a complete set versus purchasing individual items
The package is particularly cost-effective when a workstation is being set up from scratch and neither temperature sensors nor stand components are available, as it eliminates the need to procure individual components and check their compatibility. If compatible accessories are already available in the laboratory, for example, from another C-MAG or RCT/RET workstation, it is often more cost-effective to purchase the base unit separately, as this would otherwise result in duplicate accessories included in the package. Where several new workstations are being set up, it is also worth checking whether stand components and sensors can be procured more cost-effectively in bulk from a central source rather than via several individual packages.
Individual requirements and procurement service
Additional original accessories are available for the C-MAG HS 7 Package as required, such as extra stirring rods, reaction blocks, carrier plates, replacement stand components or a protective cover for the control panel. Through our procurement service, we can also assist you with spare parts, calibrations and the standardisation of equipment across multiple workstations. Further information and contact details can be found on our procurement service page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What vessel sizes are the stand accessories designed for?
The stand rod, support rod and boss head are designed for use on the 180 x 180 millimetre mounting surface of the base unit and can be positioned to accommodate standard beaker and flask sizes up to a maximum stirring volume of 10 litres.
What is included in the package that isn’t included with the individual C-MAG HS 7?
An ETS-D5 contact thermometer, together with a stand rod, a support rod and a boss head for securing the probe, all with their own IKA number.
Is the base unit included in the package technically identical to the individual C-MAG HS 7?
The technical specifications of the base unit in the set (10 litres, 1,000 watts, 50 to 500 °C, ceramic plate 180 x 180 mm) are exactly the same as those of the C-MAG HS 7, which is available separately.
Does the ETS-D5 contact thermometer need to be calibrated separately?
Before its first operational use, it is recommended that it be checked against a suitable reference temperature; factory calibration is not specifically mentioned in the manufacturer’s instructions.
Can the stand accessories also be used with other IKA stirrers?
The stand rod, support rod and boss head are standard components from the IKA range of accessories and are generally compatible with other C-MAG and RCT/RET models, meaning that synergies can be exploited should the workstation be expanded at a later date.
Can the main unit be operated without the ETS-D5 sensor?
Yes, the heating can be controlled via the plate temperature regardless of the sensor connected; the sensor is an optional extra for monitoring the medium temperature.
How should the package be disposed of correctly?
As electrical appliances, the main unit and the contact thermometer should be taken to a collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment rather than being disposed of with household waste; the manufacturer’s WEEE registration number is listed in the section on ‘Use, installation, maintenance and disposal’.
