Product information "IKA ElectraSyn 2.0 Package Electrochemistry System, 0020008980"
The IKA ElectraSyn 2.0 is a revolutionary ‘three-in-one’ system that standardises and makes electrochemical synthesis accessible to organic chemists. Developed in close collaboration with Phil S. Baran (Scripps Research Institute), this compact benchtop instrument replaces the makeshift, ‘tangled cable’ set-ups of traditional potentiostats with a defined, reproducible geometry. It combines a potentiostat for preparative electrosynthesis, an analytical tool for cyclovoltammetry (CV) and a high-quality magnetic stirrer in a single unit.
Standardisation and reproducibility
The ElectraSyn 2.0 solves the core problem of electrosynthesis – the transferability of results. By maintaining defined distances between the electrodes and precise stirring profiles, the system eliminates variables that often lead to errors in homemade cells. Chemists can intuitively run reactions in either constant-current (galvanostat) or constant-voltage (potentiostat) mode, whilst the TFT display visualises all relevant parameters in real time.
Smart features and connectivity
The system is not just hardware, but a platform. The IKA ElectraSyn app (iOS/Android) allows experiments to be monitored and data to be exported. Features such as ‘SmartAssist’ analyse the reaction before it starts to rule out common sources of error. Although the optional CV package is recommended for advanced mechanistic studies, the base unit already supports basic CV functions for quickly screening the electrochemical properties of substrates (redox potentials).
