The HBC 5 basic is the LED version of the smaller HBC devices. The device is a heating bath circulator with a stainless steel bath for 5 to 7 l filling volume and works up to 250 °C. Temperature and pump speed appear on an LED display, and operation is by push and rotary knobs. Two NW 12 hoses, the CC1 cooling coil and a USB cable are included.
The bath: 5 to 7 litres
The bath opening is 172 mm wide and 82 mm deep. The whole device measures 275 x 406 x 500 mm and weighs 17 kg. The bath is easy to clean and insulated, and a drain valve sits on the front. For emptying, a hose is connected, without direct contact with the temperature control medium.
Temperature and control
The heating power is 2,500 W. The working temperature starts at room temperature plus 10 K and ends at 250 °C, and with external cooling an operating temperature down to -20 °C is specified. The PID control achieves a temperature stability of ±0.02 K according to DIN 12876. The display resolves to 0.1 K and the set temperature can be set to an accuracy of 0.1 K. A PT 100 measures the working temperature and a PT1000 the safety temperature. In addition, an external PT 100 probe can be connected, and the device then indicates operation with an external probe.
Pump and connections
The pressure and suction pump has variable output and delivers up to 31 l/min at 0 bar back pressure. Maximum pressure 0.61 bar, on the suction side 0.45 bar. The pump housing is made of a plastic resistant to temperature and chemicals. The pump connections are M16x1, and the cooling coil is connected with NW 8.
Protection and PC connection
According to DIN 12876 the device carries class III with FL for flammable liquids. The safety circuit is set between 0 and 260 °C with the screwdriver supplied. Low and high level protection as well as visual and audible warnings are present. Via RS 232 or Micro-USB the device can be controlled and monitored with the labworldsoft software, and the device software can be updated online.
