Compact precision in the smallest of spaces: IKA HRC 2 lite

With the IKA HRC 2 lite (MPN 0020104311), you get a high-performance cooling and heating circulation bath, specially developed as the ideal peripheral device for simple temperature control tasks in the laboratory. This model focuses on compactness and excellent value for money. It is ideal as a reliable companion for rotary evaporators (e.g. IKA RV 3, RV 8, RV 10), for fermenters or for temperature control of small reaction vessels. Where large recirculating chillers take up too much space and are too expensive, the HRC 2 lite really comes into its own.

Sustainable cooling with R290

The HRC 2 lite sets a clear example of sustainability. It uses natural R290 (propane) as its refrigerant. This refrigerant is not only extremely energy-efficient, but also future-proof and environmentally friendly (very low global warming potential, GWP). With a cooling capacity of 400 watts (at 20 °C) and an operating temperature range of –10 °C to +100 °C, the unit covers all standard applications in basic research and process chemistry.

High-performance discharge and suction pump

A common problem with compact chillers is an underpowered pump that cannot overcome the resistance in glassware (e.g. narrow cooling coils). This is not the case with the HRC 2 lite: IKA has fitted a powerful discharge and suction pump made from high-quality PEEK. With a flow rate of 18 litres per minute and a pump pressure of 0.35 bar, it ensures a turbulent flow and thus optimum heat exchange in the connected apparatus. At the same time, the integrated level indicator allows the liquid level in the 2.5-litre reservoir to be monitored at all times.

Easy maintenance and operation

In everyday laboratory work, speed is often of the essence. The HRC 2 lite impresses with its maintenance-friendly design. The air filter (mesh filter), which protects the unit from dust and lint, is easily accessible at the front and can be removed for cleaning without the need for tools. Draining the temperature-controlled fluid is also a clean and simple process thanks to an easily accessible drain valve. The intuitive control menu allows the target temperature to be set quickly, without the need to pore over thick manuals.

Safety and connectivity

To ensure safe operation, the unit continuously monitors the liquid level and temperature. It complies with Safety Class II (FL) in accordance with DIN 12876. For modern laboratories (“Lab 4.0”), the HRC 2 lite comes with USB and RS 232 interfaces as standard. This allows the thermostat to be remotely controlled, integrated into automated processes, or monitored and documented via the labworldsoft software ®.
