Gently mixing samples and controlling or documenting the process via an interface: this is what IKA has designed the KS 260 control NOL circular shaker for. The 320 x 320 mm platform moves in a circular motion with a 10 mm stroke and can carry up to 7.5 kg. The speed ranges from 10 to 500 rpm; speed and time are shown on an LED display. The suffix ‘NOL’ is part of the designation for this model; IKA markets it as a circular shaker without end-point positioning.
Control via RS 232 and analogue output
Compared to the KS 260 basic, the ‘control’ version features an RS-232 interface. This allows the shaker to be controlled and documented externally; IKA lists the Labworldsoft software, in the Starter, Lite and Pro versions, as an accessory for this purpose. Like the KS 260 basic, it has an analogue output; IKA offers the cables and adaptors PC 1.4, PC 1.5, PC 2.1 and PC 2.2 as accessories. The time can be set from 1 to 5,999 minutes. It also supports continuous operation at 100 per cent duty cycle.
Compact design and connections
The unit measures 360 x 98 x 420 mm and weighs 8.8 kg. It draws 45 W; the motor power at the shaft is 10 W, and it is fused with 2 x T1A 250 V fuses. The mains voltage for the standard version is 220 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz; IKA also offers variants for 100 to 120 V and 100 V. Permissible ambient temperatures range from 5 to 50 °C at 80 per cent relative humidity. The protection class is IP 21 in accordance with DIN EN 60529. Power cables with Euro, UK, US or Swiss plugs are available as separate items.
