IKA KS 4000 i control Incubating Shaker, 90 L, up to 80 °C, 20 kg, 0003510000

Product information "IKA KS 4000 i control Incubating Shaker, 90 L, up to 80 °C, 20 kg, 0003510000"

The IKA KS 4000 i control (0003510000) is an incubation shaker designed for unattended operation in a temperature-controlled environment. The inner chamber has a capacity of 90 l (440 x 440 x 352 mm); the heater has a power output of 1,000 W and reaches up to 80 °C; the platform can support up to 20 kg, including the attachment, and moves in a circular motion with a stroke of 20 mm.

Temperature and control

An integrated PID control system operates with two PT-1000 temperature sensors. The setpoint temperature is adjustable in increments of 0.1 K; the heating range is between room temperature plus 5 K and 80 °C. With a vessel containing 0.5 l of water (22 °C room temperature, 37 °C setpoint), the control accuracy with the sensor is ±0.5 K. For 0.2 l of water and a room temperature of 25 °C, IKA specifies a temperature stability of ±0.1 K; with a 0.5 l vessel, this is ±0.05 K. Five vessels, each holding 0.5 l, achieve a temperature homogeneity of ±0.5 K. The chamber features a connection socket for an additional sensor; the stainless-steel PT 1000.60 is included in the Scope of delivery.

Speed, time and safety

The speed is adjustable in 1-rpm increments between 10 and 500 rpm, with a deviation of ±5 rpm. The electronic timer ranges from 1 to 59,940 minutes (999 hours); alternatively, the unit can operate continuously. The unit switches off automatically in the event of a fault and stops when the lid is opened. A drip tray with a drain hose is located at the rear. The controls have an antimicrobial coating to reduce bacteria. All functions can be controlled and documented using the Labworldsoft software, which is available separately. The unit has an RS-232 interface.

Typical applications

IKA describes the shaker as being designed for unattended operation in a temperature-controlled environment. This results in:

  • Unattended long-term operation in the temperature-controlled chamber
  • Shaking at a constant set temperature of up to 80 °C
  • Parallel runs with up to 20 kg of shaking load
  • Runs with a timer up to 999 hours
  • Controlled and documented runs with Labworldsoft (sold separately)

KS 4000 i control compared with KS 3000 i control

The KS 3000 i control has the same heating power, the same stroke and the same speed range, but only a 50 l inner chamber and a 7.5 kg shaking weight. For those who do not require a chamber, the KS 260 control is a circular shaker designed for the laboratory bench. For large flasks without heating, the KS 501 digital is available.

Scope of delivery

  • 1 x IKA KS 4000 i control incubation shaker
  • 1 x PT 1000.60 temperature probe, stainless steel
  • 4 x short clamping screws
  • 2 x long clamping screws

Attachments are not included in the Scope of delivery and must be ordered separately to suit the vessels. IKA supplies, amongst other things, universal, clamp and dish attachments, as well as clamps for Erlenmeyer flasks from 10 ml upwards.

Warranty, installation and disposal

IKA manufacturer’s warranty: 2 years; extended to 5 years upon registration at ika.com/register within 90 days of purchase. Weighing 50 kg, the unit requires a stable base; the ambient temperature should be between 15 and 32 °C. At the end of its service life, as an electrical appliance, it must be disposed of via the separate collection scheme for waste electrical equipment.
