Product information "IKA LR 1000.1 laboratory reactor vessel, vacuum reactor vessel, 1,000 ml, 0003602000"
Anyone working with the IKA LR-1000 system will eventually need a reactor vessel, as the base unit and drive alone are not enough. The LR 1000.1 is precisely this vessel: a 1,000-ml glass container with a lid, an anchor stirrer and an integrated vacuum tap, compatible with the LR 1000 basic and LR 1000 control systems.
Vessel for the LR-1000 systems
The vessel has a maximum capacity of 1,000 ml and is designed for medium temperatures of up to 120 °C. Together with the LR 1000 basic system or the LR 1000 control system, it forms a complete reactor; the base unit provides the drive and heating, whilst the glass vessel serves as the reaction chamber. Typical applications include the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, where smaller batches are mixed or dispersed under controlled conditions. The 1,000 ml size is particularly suitable for formulation development and preliminary trials, where the amount of material used should remain manageable before a formulation is scaled up to larger batches.
Lid, vacuum tap and anchor stirrer
The lid has three NS 14 sockets and one NS 29 socket; two NS 14 and one NS 29 opening are sealed with glass stoppers and clamps when not in use. An NS 14 vacuum tap is already integrated and allows the vessel to be evacuated directly, for example for bubble-free degassing or for reactions under an inert atmosphere. The scope of delivery also includes the LR 1000.11 anchor stirrer made of stainless steel; the parts in contact with the product are made of AISI 316L, borosilicate glass 3.3, PTFE and FPM. The drive connects to the base unit via a standardised stirrer shaft coupling; it is therefore possible to switch between the LR 1000 basic and LR 1000 control systems without any modifications to the vessel.
Material resistance
Borosilicate glass 3.3 is the standardised designation for chemically resistant laboratory glassware and is resistant not only to most acids and alkalis but also to rapid temperature changes. AISI 316L is used for the metal components because this stainless steel is more corrosion-resistant than standard chromium steels and is therefore suitable for repeated contact with various reaction media. The FPM and PTFE seals round off the material concept, with PTFE being used primarily where particularly broad solvent resistance is required. This combination of materials is sufficient for most standard applications in laboratories and formulation development; however, for highly aggressive speciality chemicals, it is advisable to consult the manufacturer’s chemical resistance table before use.
Typical applications
- Mixing, dispersing and homogenising on a laboratory scale using the LR-1000 system
- Formulation development in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals
- Reactions under vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere
- Preliminary scale-up trials prior to production

Use and care
The vessel can be completely separated from the lid for cleaning; all parts in contact with the medium can be dismantled. Before use under vacuum, it is advisable to carry out a brief visual inspection of the standard ground joints and seals; otherwise, a scratch or a trace of grease on the ground joint will impair vacuum performance. For highly viscous media that adhere strongly to the walls, the LR 1000.3 is available as a variant with a flow scraper on the anchor stirrer; for more fluid media, the standard anchor stirrer supplied here is generally sufficient.
Individual requirements and procurement service
The LR-1000 range also includes other anchor stirrers, the standard stirrer LR 1000.11 made of stainless steel as a spare part and the LR 1000.10 with PEEK scrapers for media that adhere strongly to walls, plus the LR 1000.20 flow breaker to prevent the formation of vortices in the vessel. Through our procurement service, we can help you choose the right drive, agitator and other accessories for your LR-1000 system, even if you’re still unsure which combination is best suited to your application.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the drive unit included in the scope of delivery?
No, the LR 1000.1 is just the reactor vessel; it is driven by the LR 1000 basic or LR 1000 control system.
Can the vessel be operated under vacuum?
Yes, via the integrated NS-14 vacuum tap in the lid.
What is the difference between the LR 1000.1 and the LR 1000.3?
Primarily the anchor stirrer and the lid connections. The LR 1000.3 has an anchor stirrer with a flow scraper and six lid connections without an integrated vacuum tap, whilst the LR 1000.1 has the standard anchor stirrer and the vacuum tap.
How much does the vessel weigh?
5.42 kg, excluding the drive and base unit.
