The IKA RCT basic ETS-D7 Solution Complete Package (MPN 0010016508) is a high-performance mechatronic system solution, perfectly matched thermodynamically, for the simultaneous stirring, mixing and high-precision temperature control of liquid media in the laboratory. This turnkey combination set combines the RCT basic premium heating magnetic stirrer – tried and tested millions of times over – with the intelligent, electronic contact thermometer ETS-D7. Whether for demanding chemical syntheses, temperature-critical reactions in pharmaceutical research or routine applications in industrial quality control, precise thermal control directly within the sample medium is the primary criterion for working in a way that is gentle on the material, reproducible and process-reliable.

Excellent thermal conductivity thanks to the Kera-Disk base

The materials science foundation of the magnetic stirrer is based on the innovative IKA Kera-Disk base plate with a diameter of 135 mm. The base plate consists of a highly conductive aluminium alloy, which ensures minimal heating times and absolutely homogeneous temperature distribution across the entire base plate. To ensure uncompromising chemical resistance to highly corrosive media, acids and alkalis, the metal surface is sealed with a non-porous, scratch-resistant ceramic coating. This robust hybrid construction facilitates residue-free cleaning and protects the mechanical integrity of the heating surface during demanding continuous use.

Fault-free media temperature control via the ETS-D7 contact thermometer

A key process engineering feature of this system solution is the direct thermodynamic coupling via the ETS-D7 electronic contact thermometer included in the package. The connected temperature sensor monitors the transient actual temperature directly within the liquid core of the sample and controls the heating power via a highly efficient PID microprocessor. The system thus reliably prevents the dreaded overshoot of the target temperature. Via the ETS-D7’s intuitive graphical display, laboratory staff can keep a constant eye on all relevant parameters as well as the temperature curve. Integrated safety functions also allow a maximum cut-off temperature to be set for unattended operation.

Hermetically sealed housing and comprehensive laboratory safety

The long-term durability of the unit is ensured by a hermetically sealed die-cast aluminium housing. This structural barrier complies with protection class IP 42 and reliably protects the internal electronic control elements and the powerful magnetic drive against the ingress of spilled liquids, corrosive vapours or dust. A comprehensive safety concept protects users and the laboratory infrastructure: an independently adjustable safety circuit immediately switches off the heating function in the event of an unexpected overheating, whilst a visual residual heat indicator (Hot Top Indicator) reliably warns staff of the risk of burns even after the unit has been switched off.
