IKA RCT basic Synthesis Solution 250 Magnetic Stirrer Complete Package, Aluminium Set-up Plate, 0010016490

Product information "IKA RCT basic Synthesis Solution 250 Magnetic Stirrer Complete Package, Aluminium Set-up Plate, 0010016490"

A glass flask is not very forgiving if, when boiling under reflux, a sensor cable rubs against the clamp or if an oil bath spills onto the hotplate should the flask break. The IKA RCT basic Synthesis Solution 250 (ID No. 0010016490) addresses both issues: a wireless temperature sensor measures directly within the reaction medium, a second, wired sensor simultaneously monitors the synthesis block, and the flask is housed in an aluminium block rather than in an open oil bath. IKA supplies the complete set for round-bottom flasks up to 250 millilitres: the RCT basic magnetic stirrer with heating, flask holder, PT wireless and PT1000 sensors, USB dongle, as well as a stand and clamps for securing the flask.

Wireless temperature and pH measurement in the reaction medium

The centrepiece of the set is the PT wireless sensor, which transmits measurement values wirelessly to the RCT basic. A pH electrode can also be connected via the PT wireless’s BNC socket; the RCT basic’s display then shows the pH value directly, without the need for a separate measuring device. As there is no longer a sensor cable leading to the flask, the setup on the stand remains more flexible, and there is no risk of cables being damaged or scorched by contact with the heating plate. The supplied USB WD dongle also connects the RCT basic wirelessly to the IKA Lab Assistant app for visualising the measurement data.

Dual temperature monitoring for greater safety

In addition to the PT wireless, the set includes the wired PT 1000.60 sensor. Both sensors measure simultaneously, but at different locations: the PT 1000.60 monitors and limits the temperature at the synthesis block or heat transfer medium, whilst the PT wireless measures the temperature directly within the reaction medium. The RCT basic displays both values side by side on the screen. This separate measurement is particularly important in the event of glass breakage, as a sudden discrepancy between the block temperature and the medium temperature becomes immediately apparent and does not have to be detected via a single measurement point.

Synthesis block instead of an oil bath

The flask holder supplied (IKA designation H 135.25, for 250 ml round-bottom flasks, without handle) is a synthesis block made of solid anodised aluminium and is temperature-resistant up to 300 °C. Compared to an oil or sand bath, this significantly reduces the potential for hazards and simplifies handling and cleaning, as there is no risk of an oil bath leaking or sand becoming stuck. A universal clamp (R 350) additionally secures the flask to the stand. The RCT basic has a second stand mount, which can be used to attach an additional stand rod for a reflux condenser if required.

RCT basic as a basic unit: stirring and heating with 800 watts

The basic unit covers a speed range of 50 to 1,500 revolutions per minute, adjusted via a rotary-push control with an accuracy of 10 revolutions per minute. Stir bars with lengths of 20 to 80 millimetres can be used; according to the data sheet, the stirring capacity is up to 20 litres of water, and the maximum load is 25 kilograms. The heater has an output of 800 watts and reaches temperatures ranging from room temperature to 310 °C; one litre of water heats up by 9 Kelvin per minute in heating stage H1500. The safety circuit can be set independently of the setpoint between 50 and 360 °C, a control logic that IKA has been using for decades in heated equipment. The die-cast aluminium housing is rated to IP 54, which protects against splashing water.

Safety concept for unattended operation

Beneath the heating plate are two further, separate temperature sensors: one controls the setpoint temperature, whilst the second monitors an independently adjustable safety limit in accordance with EN IEC 61010-2-010; this setting is adjusted mechanically directly on the unit and is independent of the process setpoint. If the medium temperature drops suddenly, for example due to glass breakage or the medium evaporating, the RCT basic detects this and can switch off the heating. If the temperature fails to rise despite the power supply, for example because a sensor is not immersed in the medium, the device also deactivates the heating automatically. A visual warning is also displayed as soon as the plate surface exceeds 50 °C, even if the unit is already switched off.

Differences compared to the larger sets in the series

The Synthesis Solution 250 shares the base unit with the 500 and 1,000 millilitre sets; the flask holder in all three sets is tailored to the respective flask volume. If you mainly run small batches up to 250 millilitres, this set will suffice. If your batches regularly reach 500 or 1,000 millilitres, the corresponding larger sets are the more obvious choice.

Typical applications

As a synthesis kit with wireless sensor technology, the RCT basic Synthesis Solution 250 is suitable for, amongst other things:

  • Organic syntheses on a 250-ml scale with simultaneous monitoring of block and medium temperatures
  • Refluxing, where an additional stand rod is required for the condenser
  • pH monitoring directly in the reaction mixture, without a separate pH meter at the workstation
  • Laboratory workstations that wish to avoid open oil baths for safety or cleaning reasons

IKA ETS-D7 Wireless Sensor, smart wireless temperature sensor and pH meter, 0025008370
IKA ETS-D7 Wireless Sensor, smart wireless temperature sensor and pH meter, 0025008370
Manufacturer number: 0025008370

The IKA ETS-D7 Wireless Sensor (MPN 0025008370) is a wireless temperature sensor, which transmits measured values wirelessly to compatible IKA magnetic stirrers and agitators, thereby eliminating the need for cumbersome cable connections in the fume hood or glovebox. Temperature data can be sent in real time to the paired drive unit via a digital WPAN radio link with a range of up to 15 metres, allowing the stirrer and sensor to be positioned independently of one another. Thanks to an integrated BNC socket, the ETS-D7 also functions as a stand-alone pH meter as soon as a suitable pH electrode is connected, thereby covering two measurement tasks with a single device. For networked laboratory workstations where temperature and stirring parameters are to be documented centrally, this wireless solution also reduces the amount of cabling required at the workstation. All-in-one measurement technology: temperature and pH in a single device An analogue pH electrode can be connected directly to the ETS-D7 via the integrated BNC socket. This transforms the wireless sensor into a fully-fledged, portable pH meter, eliminating the need to purchase an additional device for occasional pH checks. The TFT touchscreen displays temperature and pH values with a resolution of two decimal places (0.01) each; the accuracy of the pH measurement is ±0.1 pH over a measuring range of 0 to 14 pH. The touchscreen interface allows you to switch between displays and adjust settings directly on the device. For laboratories that only need to check pH values occasionally, this eliminates the need to purchase a separate pH meter. The temperature probe’s minimum immersion depth of 20 mm also allows measurements to be taken in smaller sample vessels. Intelligent energy management with Auto-Wake An integrated infrared and brightness sensor detects whether people are in the immediate vicinity and automatically activates the display when necessary (Auto-Wake). When idle, the sensor automatically switches to standby mode, achieving a battery life of up to 100 hours in Auto-Wake mode. With the display switched on continuously, the operating time is up to 50 hours. The integrated battery, with a capacity of 700 mAh at 5 V, reaches around 50 % of its full capacity after 60 minutes and around 75 % after 90 minutes, meaning that even short charging breaks can be utilised for continued use. For long test series lasting several days, this energy management system significantly reduces the effort required for recharging. Suitable for IKA RET basic, RCT basic and Eurostar control The ETS-D7 transmits its measured values via WPAN radio to compatible IKA drives. These include the magnetic stirrers of the RET basic and RCT basic series, as well as the Eurostar control stirrers. For older RCT basic models without an integrated WPAN module, the wireless connection can be retrofitted using a separately available USB wireless receiver. Depending on the connected drive, temperature and stirring parameters can be adjusted directly via the sensor’s touchscreen interface using bidirectional communication. In addition, the ETS-D7 can be integrated into safety control loops as a second, redundant temperature sensor, providing an independent control mechanism in the event of exothermic reactions. For laboratories already using a RET basic magnetic stirrer, the ETS-D7 can thus be used as a wireless extension of the existing temperature control system. Bidirectional networking for process documentation Full compatibility with the labworldsoft laboratory software enables the digital recording, central control and documentation of recorded temperature and pH curves. For laboratories that need to document their measurement series in an audit-compliant manner, the ETS-D7 can thus be integrated into existing digital quality management processes, rather than recording measurement values manually. This ensures that the assignment of measurement values remains traceable even when test series are running in parallel across multiple workstations. Typical applications Its wireless design and dual function as a temperature and pH meter make the ETS-D7 a versatile tool in a variety of laboratory situations: Temperature monitoring during syntheses with reflux cooling, without intrusive cables in the fume hoodCable-free measurements in the glovebox, where signal cables would restrict handlingpH monitoring directly at the reaction vessel via the integrated BNC interfaceRedundant temperature monitoring in safety-critical, exothermic reactionsDocumentation of temperature and pH curves via labworldsoft in a networked laboratoryRetrofitting older RCT basic magnetic stirrers with wireless temperature controlMobile use as a stand-alone pH meter, independent of the connected stirrer Technical details Sensor typePT1000 (DIN IEC 751 Class A), replaceable Replaceable temperature sensorStandard component H62.51 Temperature measurement range-20 °C to +400 °C (in combination with H62 sensor) Temperature measurement resolution0.01 K Temperature measurement accuracy±0.05 K plus the tolerance of the PT1000 sensor Minimum immersion depth20 mm pH measurement functionVia integrated BNC socket (female) pH measurement range0 to 14 pH pH resolution0.01 pH pH accuracy±0.1 pH Display technologyTFT touchscreen Proximity sensorsInfrared and brightness detection for auto-wake AlertsStatus LED and audible alert function Wireless interfaceWPAN Communication rangeUp to 15 metres (depending on the building structure) Wired interfaceUSB-C Power supplyBuilt-in, rechargeable battery Battery capacity700 mAh, 5 V Maximum charging current500 mA Operating time (display on continuously)Up to 50 hours Operating time (Auto-Wake mode)Up to 100 hours Charging rate50 % capacity in 60 minutes, 75 % capacity in 90 minutes Dimensions (W x D x H)52 x 385 x 40 mm Net weight0.125 kg Degree of protection according to DIN EN 60529IP 54 Permissible ambient temperature+5 to +40 °C Permissible relative humidityUp to 80 % Scope of delivery 1 x IKA ETS-D7 Wireless Sensor main unit (MPN 0025008370)1 x Replaceable temperature sensor H62.511 x Integrated lithium-ion battery (700 mAh)1 x Quick Start Guide / Safety Guide A pH electrode and a USB-C charging adapter are not included and are available separately. IKA Pt.Wireless wireless sensor for temperature and pH measurement, 0025008369
IKA Pt.Wireless wireless sensor for temperature and pH measurement, 0025008369
Manufacturer number: 0025008369

The IKA Pt.Wireless wireless sensor (MPN 0025008369) represents a technologically pioneering, highly optimised mechatronic system solution for seamless digital temperature and electrochemical sample analysis in the laboratory. Designed as an intelligent, fully wireless sensor, this instrument eliminates the need for cumbersome cable routing in fume hoods, gloveboxes or on crowded laboratory workstations. Via digital radio transmission (WPAN), the system transmits transient measurement data in real time over a range of up to 15 metres to compatible IKA system components, such as the latest generations of the RCT basic and RET basic magnetic stirrer series, Eurostar control stirrers, and directly to the labworldsoft (LWS) laboratory equipment software. Full app integration and display-free efficiency Unlike traditional measuring instruments, the Pt.Wireless does away with physically bulky display elements on the sensor itself and shifts all visual control to the innovative IKA app. Once paired in a straightforward process, the smartphone or tablet acts as a high-resolution dashboard for the real-time display of all parameters. Calibration of the precise temperature and pH calibration curves is also carried out error-free directly via the app’s user interface. For electrochemical analysis, the slim module features an integrated BNC interface to which an analogue pH electrode can be connected directly. This transforms the system into an ultra-compact all-in-one solution for monitoring complex reaction media. Intelligent LED status monitoring for weekend operation The Pt.Wireless’s key technical feature is its predictive, multi-stage energy management system, which enables a continuous operating time of up to 150 hours. To reliably prevent unforeseen system failures during critical long-term experiments, the sensor features a smart battery status warning via an integrated LED indicator. If the remaining runtime of the lithium battery falls below 70 hours, the LED signals at an early stage that safe, unattended operation over a full weekend can no longer be ensured. When the remaining runtime falls below a critical reserve of approximately 20 hours, the indicator changes to a slowly flashing yellow warning signal to alert laboratory staff that safe overnight operation is about to cease.
