The IKA Pt.Wireless wireless sensor (MPN 0025008369) represents a technologically pioneering, highly optimised mechatronic system solution for seamless digital temperature and electrochemical sample analysis in the laboratory. Designed as an intelligent, fully wireless sensor, this instrument eliminates the need for cumbersome cable routing in fume cupboards, gloveboxes or on crowded laboratory workstations. Via digital radio transmission (WPAN), the system transmits transient measurement data in real time over a range of up to 15 metres to compatible IKA system components – such as the latest generations of the RCT basic and RET basic magnetic stirrer series, Eurostar control stirrers, and directly to the labworldsoft (LWS) laboratory equipment software.

Full app integration and display-free efficiency

Unlike traditional measuring instruments, the Pt.Wireless does away with physically bulky display elements on the sensor itself and shifts all visual control to the innovative IKA app. Once paired – a straightforward process – the smartphone or tablet acts as a high-resolution dashboard for the real-time display of all parameters. Calibration of the precise temperature and pH calibration curves is also carried out error-free directly via the app’s user interface. For electrochemical analysis, the slim module features an integrated BNC interface to which an analogue pH electrode can be connected directly. This transforms the system into an ultra-compact all-in-one solution for monitoring complex reaction media.

Intelligent LED status monitoring for weekend operation

The Pt.Wireless’s key technical feature is its predictive, multi-stage energy management system, which enables a continuous operating time of up to 150 hours. To reliably prevent unforeseen system failures during critical long-term experiments, the sensor features a smart battery status warning via an integrated LED indicator. If the remaining runtime of the lithium battery falls below 70 hours, the LED signals at an early stage that safe, unattended operation over a full weekend can no longer be guaranteed. When the remaining runtime falls below a critical reserve of approximately 20 hours, the indicator changes to a slowly flashing yellow warning signal to alert laboratory staff that safe overnight operation is about to cease.
