Product information "IKA RCT classic magnetic stirrer with heating, aluminium base plate, 0020136400"
The IKA RCT classic magnetic stirrer with integrated heating represents a highly sophisticated, thermomechanical system solution for the precise mixing, temperature control and homogenisation of low-viscosity liquids in clinical, chemical and university laboratory environments. As a reliable standard in laboratory technology, this compact unit is validated for continuous stirring tasks up to a volume of 20 litres (based on water). For demanding syntheses, media preparation or kinetic studies, homogeneous heat transfer and constant speed stability are the primary criteria for guaranteeing reliable and reproducible experimental results whilst minimising damage to the sample material.
Uniform heat distribution through aluminium heating plate technology
The process engineering heart of the device is the precision-machined, round heating plate made from a high-quality aluminium alloy (diameter 135 mm). In contrast to solid ceramic plates, this aluminium heating plate is characterised by outstanding thermodynamic enthalpy transfer and extremely homogeneous temperature distribution across the entire contact surface. With a heating power of 600 watts, the system enables rapid heating of the sample media up to a heating plate temperature of 310 degrees Celsius. The excellent magnetic coupling ensures that the magnetic stir bar is kept reliably in position even as viscosities increase, whilst an integrated soft-start function reliably prevents the stir bar from becoming decoupled during the start-up phase.
Ergonomic operating concept and robust construction
The IKA RCT classic combines tried-and-tested metallurgical hotplate technology with a durable, mechanical housing design. The clearly laid-out user interface allows for intuitive and precise adjustment of parameters via robust rotary-push controls. The housing is constructed from fire-resistant die-cast aluminium with a durable powder coating, which gives the unit maximum resilience against aggressive acids, alkalis and solvents encountered in everyday laboratory work. A clear, high-contrast display shows the setpoint and actual values for speed and temperature in real time, enabling laboratory staff to monitor processes seamlessly at all times.
Comprehensive safety management for laboratory operations
The RCT classic’s structural safety complies with the highest GLP and GMP laboratory guidelines and is validated for unattended operation in laboratory facilities. The system features an independently adjustable safety circuit for the maximum hotplate temperature, which immediately shuts down the system in the event of a malfunction. An integrated residual heat indicator provides a visual warning to laboratory staff of the risk of burns even after the unit has been switched off, as long as the hotplate surface remains hot. Thanks to its robust construction and high protection rating, the system is optimally protected against the ingress of splashing water.

Customised Requirements & Accessories
To ensure the IKA RCT classic integrates seamlessly into your existing laboratory infrastructure, we offer a comprehensive range of original accessories. For high-precision temperature control directly within the medium, we recommend connecting an external stainless steel temperature sensor (PT1000). To secure this in place, our range includes suitable support rods, cross-sockets and flexible mounting brackets. To protect your glassware and optimise enthalpy exchange, we also offer original IKA heating baths and bespoke aluminium synthesis heads. Please make use of our technical procurement service to tailor the design of your laboratory workstations to your specific requirements.
