Product information "IKA PT 1000.60 Temperature Sensor, Stainless Steel, -20 to +350 °C, 0003516800"
A heated magnetic stirrer can only control temperature as precisely as the connected external sensor measures it. The IKA PT 1000.60 (MPN 0003516800) is an immersion sensor made from stainless steel 1.4571 with a PT1000 sensor of tolerance class A, covering a measuring range from -20 °C to +350 °C.
With a response time t9/10 of 10 seconds, the sensor reacts quickly to temperature changes in the medium, which matters for exothermic reactions or fast heating ramps that need reliable control. The 1050 mm cable allows flexible placement of the stirrer relative to the vessel without the sensor restricting work at the stand.

Part of the IKA Specials Q4/2026, valid until 31 December 2026. The crossed-out price is IKA's recommended list price. Our promotional price is net.The IKA RCT basic anodised magnetic stirrer with heating (MPN 0020133785) extends the RCT range with an anodised aluminium base plate. With 800 watts of heating power, a maximum stirring capacity of up to 20 litres of water and a sealed die-cast aluminium housing rated IP 54, the unit suits laboratory applications that need fast, direct heat transfer without a thick barrier layer, for example demanding chemical reactions, syntheses and thermal processes in industrial and academic laboratories. Maximum thermal conductivity from the anodised base The key feature of this model is the circular base plate, 135 mm in diameter, made from anodised aluminium. Compared with conventional ceramic coatings, the anodised metal surface gives high, direct thermal conductivity, which shortens heating times in daily lab work because energy reaches the vessel with little loss. The anodised layer protects the aluminium underneath from abrasion, scratches and a wide range of solvents, which keeps performance consistent over years of routine use. Precise kinetics and temperature control The control electronics of the RCT basic anodised allow stepless speed adjustment from 50 to 1,500 revolutions per minute, set via a rotary push button control with a setting accuracy of 10 rpm. The LED display shows setpoint and actual values for speed and temperature at all times. For temperature-sensitive media, the unit has a socket for external PT1000 series sensors as well as the ETS-D5 and ETS-D7 contact thermometers. With PT1000 or ETS-D5, medium temperature can be controlled to an accuracy of ±0.5 K, and this improves to ±0.2 K with the ETS-D7 or the wireless PT.Wireless sensor. Using ETS-D7 or PT.Wireless also gives an optional pH reading of the medium. Robust housing and safety concept The electronics sit inside a sealed die-cast aluminium housing rated IP 54, which protects the motor and control boards from splashing water and aggressive vapours during continuous operation. An independently adjustable safety circuit (50 to 360 degrees Celsius) monitors the maximum heating plate temperature and switches off the heater if an unexpected overtemperature occurs. A visual residual heat indicator also warns staff of the burn risk until the surface has cooled down. For the first time, the RCT basic anodised has an integrated menu with a timer function: the freely programmable timer starts either immediately or once the target temperature is reached and signals the end of the run with an audible tone, and heating and stirring can be switched off independently of each other. At 160 x 100 x 200 mm (W x H x D) and a net weight of 2.3 kg, the unit stays compact enough to run several units side by side in the fume hood. Typical applications The anodised base plate and the connection options for external temperature sensors make the RCT basic anodised a versatile stirrer for laboratory applications in research and industrial quality control: Chemical syntheses and reactions that need fast, direct heat transfer through the anodised aluminium plate Homogenising and heating larger volumes of up to 20 litres of water Precise temperature control in the medium with PT1000, ETS-D5, ETS-D7 or the wireless PT.Wireless sensor Routine work in quality control and research where short heating times of up to 9 K/min matter Continuous laboratory use thanks to IP 54 protection against splashing water and vapours Technical details Number of stirring positions1 Max. stirring volume (water)20 litres Maximum load25 kg MotorBrushless DC motor (EC), 9 W output Speed range50 to 1500 rpm Speed controlStepless via rotary push button Speed setting accuracy10 rpm Stirring bar length20 to 80 mm Heating power800 W Heating plate temperature rangeRoom temperature to 310 °C Temperature setting resolution1 K (heating plate), 0.1 K (actual value display) Adjustable safety circuit50 to 360 °C Heating rate (1 l water, H1500)9 K/min Control accuracy with PT1000±0.5 K Control accuracy with ETS-D5±0.5 K Control accuracy with ETS-D7 or PT.Wireless±0.2 K Control accuracy at heating plate centre without vessel (100 °C)±5 K Self-heating of the base plate (RT 22 °C, 1 h stirring)max. +12 K Base plate materialAnodised aluminium Base plate diameterØ 135 mm Overall dimensions (W x H x D)160 x 100 x 200 mm Net weight2.3 kg Protection class per DIN EN 60529IP 54 DisplayLED display for setpoint and actual values Connection for external sensorPT1000 series, ETS-D5, ETS-D7, PT.Wireless Timer1 second to 5,999 minutes Digital interfacesRS232 and USB-C WPAN interfaceoptional via USB WD dongle pH measurementoptional with ETS-D7 or PT.Wireless Power consumption820 W, standby 0.45 W Power supply220 to 230 V, 50/60 Hz Contents 1 x IKA RCT basic anodised magnetic stirrer with heating (MPN: 0020133785) 1 x mains lead 1 x Detailed operating instructions / safety guide Customised requirements & accessories IKA provides a manufacturer's warranty for the RCT basic anodised of 2 years, extended to 10 years if the device is registered at ika.com/register within 90 days of purchase. Part of the IKA Specials Q4/2026, valid until 31 December 2026. The crossed-out price is IKA's recommended list price. Our promotional price is net.The IKA RET basic magnetic stirrer with heating (MPN 0025008265) combines a heating power of 800 watts with a compact housing measuring 160 x 200 x 100 mm and integrated Wi-Fi and LAN interfaces. The aluminium base plate gives fast, direct heat transfer into the sample. For B2B laboratories with high safety and documentation requirements, the RET basic combines a fast heating rate, fine speed control and a comprehensive, standard-compliant safety concept for daily continuous use. Compact design with high power density and direct heat transfer The 135 mm base plate is made from an uncoated aluminium alloy, which gives particularly direct heat transfer with heating rates of up to 9 K/min and even temperature distribution, adjustable in four heating speed stages. Unlike the anodised RET basic anodised, this plate has no additional oxide-layer protection against scratches and chemicals, but the bare metal surface transfers heat without the small resistance a coating adds. Despite the high heating power of 800 watts, the housing stays ultra-compact at 160 x 200 x 100 mm. This saves space in the fume hood, fits on any standard laboratory lifting platform and suits parallel experimental setups in tight spaces. Networked laboratory processes via Wi-Fi and LAN For integration into networked laboratory infrastructure and automated documentation processes, the RET basic comes standard with Wi-Fi and LAN interfaces as well as the wired USB-C and RS232 interfaces. This connectivity allows the stirrer to be monitored centrally, controlled remotely or integrated into higher-level software systems, including via the IKA app. The communication interface, based on ASCII Namur commands, also allows direct device-to-device communication. The RET basic can, for example, be paired with an IKA overhead stirrer: if the stirring speed of the viscous medium falls below a critical threshold, the RET basic switches off the heating automatically, an important condition for reliable, unattended continuous operation. Comprehensive safety concept per EN IEC 61010-2-010 With 18 integrated safety features, the RET basic meets the EN IEC 61010-2-010 standard for heated laboratory equipment. System safety is further confirmed by a TÜV Süd certificate to the NRTL standard, comparable to UL and CSA. Besides a mechanically adjustable safety circuit (50 to 360 degrees Celsius) using two separate plate sensors, the unit has Delta-T medium monitoring, sensor break and misalignment detection, and automatic heating shut-off on a sudden temperature drop, for example from broken glassware. If a safety shut-off occurs, the Always Stir function keeps stirring active while heating stops, to prevent bumping or hot spots in the medium. A visual residual heat warning also protects against burns on surfaces above 50 degrees Celsius. Typical applications The combination of network connectivity, direct heat transfer and a comprehensive safety concept makes the RET basic a versatile instrument for digitalised laboratory environments: Networked laboratory processes with documentation requirements, thanks to integrated Wi-Fi and LAN Unattended continuous operation by pairing with an IKA overhead stirrer via Namur commands Demanding syntheses with high safety requirements, thanks to 18 safety features per EN IEC 61010-2-010 Mobile process monitoring via the IKA app Wet workstations that benefit from direct heat transfer through the uncoated aluminium plate Technical details Number of stirring positions1 Max. stirring volume (water)20 litres Maximum load25 kg MotorBrushless DC motor (EC), 9 W output Speed range50 to 1700 rpm Speed setting accuracy10 rpm Heating power800 W Heating plate temperature rangeRoom temperature to 340 °C Maximum heating rateup to 9 K/min Heating speed4 individually adjustable stages Control accuracy with PT1000 or ETS-D5±0.5 K Control accuracy with ETS-D7 or PT.Wireless±0.2 K Base plate diameter135 mm Base plate materialAluminium alloy, uncoated Network interfacesWi-Fi and LAN Wired data interfacesUSB-C and RS232 Communication standardASCII-based Namur commands App connectivityIKA app Timer1 second to 5,999 minutes pH measurementoptional with ETS-D7 or PT.Wireless Standards complianceEN IEC 61010-2-010, TÜV Süd NRTL-tested (UL/CSA standard) Number of safety features18 Adjustable safety circuit50 to 360 °C Medium safety functionDelta-T monitoring Bumping protectionAlways Stir function Burn protectionVisual residual heat warning above 50 °C surface temperature Display technology14-segment glass display Housing materialSealed die-cast aluminium housing Protection class per DIN EN 60529IP 54 Dimensions (W x D x H)160 x 200 x 100 mm Net weight2.3 kg Power supply220 to 230 V, 50/60 Hz OriginMade in Germany Scope of delivery1 x IKA RET basic magnetic stirrer with heating (MPN 0025008265)1 x PT 1000.60 temperature sensor, stainless steel1 x H 801 x IKAFLON 30 magnetic stirring bar1 x IKAFLON 40 magnetic stirring bar1 x screwdriver1 x mains cable1 x operating instructions Customised requirements & accessories IKA provides a manufacturer's warranty for the RET basic of 2 years, extended to 10 years if the device is registered at ika.com/register within 90 days of purchase. Electromagnetic kinematics and rheological trend metrology The physical mixing of structurally viscous or Newtonian fluids requires the precise transfer of rotational energy through a closed system. The IKA RET control-visc generates a powerful, rotating alternating electromagnetic field that synchronises the magnetic stirrer bar in the reaction vessel at a frequency of 50 to 1,700 revolutions per minute. The fundamental analytical innovation of this system is the cybernetic measurement of the torque trend. Without having to insert a mechanical viscometer into the medium, the control electronics detect the phase shift between the rotating magnetic field and the asynchronous slip of the stirring bar, which is induced by the fluid’s flow resistance. This real-time analysis of dynamic viscosity changes enables the seamless monitoring of complex macromolecular polymerisation, cross-linking or crystallisation processes on the TFT display. Thermodynamic cascade control and heat transfer The reaction kinetics of chemical syntheses are directly proportional to the absolute temperature. The RET control-visc transfers thermal energy via a solid heating plate made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel (grade 1.4301). With a heating power of 600 watts, the system raises the surface temperature to up to 340 °C. To eliminate the thermodynamic lag between the heating plate and the reaction medium, the system operates using a complex PID cascade control system. By integrating an external PT-100 or dual PT-1000 temperature sensor directly into the fluid, the cybernetic algorithm measures the isochoric heat flux. The PID system proactively reduces the heating power before the defined setpoint is reached. This physically eliminates thermal overshoot and protects thermolabile molecular matrices from irreversible denaturation. Gravimetric integration and system cybernetics In traditional workflows, the precise formulation of buffer solutions or chemical syntheses requires the physical separation of gravimetry and thermodynamics. The RET control-visc integrates high-precision strain gauges directly into the mechanical architecture of the chassis, enabling the entire footprint to function as a metrologically accurate balance (measuring range up to 5,000 g). This integration of balance, heater and stirrer at a cybernetic hub enables the gravimetric dosing of solids or solvents directly into the reaction vessel whilst under active stirring. Seamless digital documentation of temperature, speed and viscosity vectors is transferred via the RS-232 and USB interfaces to external Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for GLP/GMP-compliant audit trails. Technical details Thermodynamics & Heating Technology Heating power: 600 W Heating temperature range: Room temperature + preset up to 340 °C Base material: Solid stainless steel (grade 1.4301) Heating rate control: Anticipatory PID cascade control (prevents overshoot) Temperature setting and display resolution: 0.1 K Metrology & Control Engineering Viscosity measurement: Relative torque trend detection (Torque Trend) Gravimetric function: Integrated balance (measuring range: 10 – 5,000 g) Balance resolution: 1 g Temperature sensor interface: PT 100 / PT 1000 (DIN 12878 connection) pH metrology: Integrated BNC interface for direct connection of a pH probe Cybernetic interface: High-resolution TFT display Kinematics & Mechanics Speed range: 50 – 1,700 rpm Motor power input / output: 22 W / 12 W Speed setting and display resolution: 10 rpm Maximum stirring volume (H₂O): 20 litres Maximum stir bar length: 80 mm Chamber infrastructure & dimensions Base dimensions: Ø 135 mm System dimensions (W x H x D): 160 x 85 x 270 mm Weight: 2.7 kg Safety & Environmental Conditions Adjustable safety range: 50 – 380 °C (hardware shut-off) Permissible ambient temperature range: 5 – 40 °C Permissible relative humidity: max. 80 % Protection class (according to DIN EN 60529): IP 42 (protected against dripping water) Electrical & Connectivity Voltage / Frequency: 220 – 240 V / 50/60 Hz Power consumption: max. 650 W Data interfaces: USB, RS 232, Bluetooth Contents of delivery 1 x IKA RET control-visc magnetic stirrer 1 x PT 100.70 temperature probe 1 x magnetic stirring bar (IKA FLON) 1 x protective cover (H 104) 1 x USB cable and mains lead (Important note: Support rods and cross-sockets for mechanically securing the PT 100 probe in the reaction vessel are not included in the scope of delivery!) Custom requirements & accessories The RET control-visc is a precision thermodynamic instrument. In order to activate the PID cascade control, the supplied PT-100 probe must be positioned hydrodynamically correctly within the flow vortex. To achieve this, vertical locking using an IKA support rod (H 16 V) and cross-sleeve (H 44) is essential, as contact between the probe and the hot vessel wall (heat conduction through the glass) immediately compromises the cybernetic control loop. For the disruption of magnetic field lines in asymmetrical vessels, we offer specific magnetic stirring bars (e.g. elliptical geometries) via our procurement service.

Anyone wishing to monitor not only the temperature and speed but also the weighed mass during a stirring process would normally need to set up a separate weighing module alongside the stirrer. The IKA RET control-visc white (0005030000) integrates a weighing function with a range of 10 to 5,000 grams directly into the heated magnetic stirrer, combined with a technical enamel work surface, a TFT display and a connection for pH measurements. Integrated weighing function up to 5,000 grams The weighing function covers a range from 10 to 5,000 grams with an accuracy of ±(0.3 per cent plus 2 grams); the maximum permissible load for the weighing function is 5 kilograms. This allows, for example, the quantity of a substance added to be checked directly at the stirring station, without having to transfer the vessel to a separate balance in the meantime. Enamelled hotplate with high temperature accuracy The round heating surface, with a diameter of 135 millimetres, is made of technical enamel and covers a heating temperature range from 0 to 340 degrees Celsius (room temperature plus self-heating), with a setting accuracy of 0.1 Kelvin at the plate, which is finer than that of most other models in the C-MAG and RCT series, which typically operate with an accuracy of 1 to 5 Kelvin. The maximum medium temperature with a connected probe is 270 degrees Celsius, and the heating power is 600 watts. pH measurement and TFT display for process control A pH electrode can be connected via a BNC socket, allowing the pH value to be monitored directly on the unit whilst stirring. All values, including setpoints and actual values for speed and temperature, are shown on a TFT display; a graph function is also available for the graphical representation of process trends. A disengagement detection feature alerts the user if the stirring bar loses its connection to the magnetic field. Stirring up to 20 l with disengagement detection The speed range extends from 50 to 1,700 revolutions per minute, adjustable in increments of 10 revolutions per minute; stirring rods from 20 to 80 millimetres in length can be used. A disengagement detection system alerts the user when the stirring rod loses its magnetic coupling with the drive, particularly useful for viscous or inhomogeneous media, where an unnoticed stoppage of the stirring rod would otherwise only be detected at a late stage. The maximum load on the base is 25 kilograms. Typical applications With its integrated weighing function, pH connection and high temperature accuracy, the RET control-visc white is technically suitable for: Titrations and dosing processes with direct mass control at the stirring point Syntheses requiring a temperature accuracy of 0.1 Kelvin at the hotplate Combined pH and temperature monitoring during stirring Processes with documented progress via the integrated graph function Stirring processes up to 20 l with varying viscosity, monitored via viscosity trend measurement Selection guide: control-visc compared to other digital IKA stirrers Within the range of digital IKA stirrers, the control-visc model offers the most comprehensive range of additional features, whilst providing the same stirring capacity as the IKA Plate (RCT digital): ModelWeighing functionpH connectionMixing capacity (H2O)Footprint RET control-visc white (this unit)Yes, 10 to 5000 gYes, BNC20 lTechnical enamel, Ø 135 mm IKA Plate (RCT digital)NoNo20 lAluminium, Ø 135 mm C-MAG HS 7 controlnoNo20 lCeramic, 180 x 180 mm If you do not require either a weighing function or a pH connection, the IKA Plate (RCT digital) or the C-MAG HS 7 control offer a more cost-effective solution. The additional cost of the control-visc version is particularly worthwhile if mass and pH value are regularly part of the documented process. Differences from comparable IKA stirrers The IKA Plate (RCT digital) offers the same stirring capacity of 20 l, but does not include a weighing function or a pH connection and features an aluminium base instead of an enamelled one. The IKA C-MAG HS 7 control offers a higher heating power of 1,000 watts, also without a weighing function. For applications with a similar range of functions, but without the special white finish, IKA also offers the RET control-visc in the standard colour. The temperature of the installation surface rises by up to 17 Kelvin during one hour of continuous stirring; this should be taken into account when using the weighing function in the immediate vicinity of the heating plate, as heat can affect the measurement accuracy of external precision scales. The supplied H 104 protective cover provides additional protection for the control panel against splashes. At the end of its service life, as an electrical appliance, the unit must not be disposed of with household waste but must be placed in the separate collection for waste electrical and electronic equipment; the manufacturer’s WEEE registration number is DE 66784213. Investment rationale: When the weighing function and pH connection are worthwhile The additional cost compared with the IKA Plate (RCT digital) or the C-MAG HS 7 control is particularly worthwhile if mass determination and pH measurement are regularly part of the same process and a separate weighing module or pH metre would otherwise have to be set up, wired and calibrated at the workstation. For standard applications without weighing or pH requirements, the additional equipment is usually not necessary; in such cases, the more affordable digital or control versions without a balance are sufficient. Frequently Asked Questions How accurate is the integrated weighing function? The weighing range is from 10 to 5,000 grams with an accuracy of ±(0.3 per cent plus 2 grams); the maximum load capacity is 5 kilograms. Is a pH electrode included in the Scope of delivery? No, the BNC socket for connecting a pH electrode is provided, but the electrode itself must be purchased separately. How does the ‘white’ version differ from the standard RET control-visc?According to the data sheet, it is a standalone version in a different colour with its own data sheet; the core technical specifications are comparable to those of the standard model. Can heating take place simultaneously whilst weighing? The weighing function is designed as an integrated additional function of the stirrer; details regarding simultaneous heating or stirring are available on request. Can the process progression be analysed graphically?Yes, the TFT display offers an integrated graph function that allows temperature and speed curves to be monitored directly on the unit whilst stirring. What interfaces are available for connection to a control system? The RET control-visc white features an RS232 interface as well as a micro-USB port, via which the unit can also be connected to a control system. Is a temperature sensor included in the scope of delivery?Yes, a PT 100.70 temperature sensor is included; additional PT 1000 sensors can be connected for other applications. How should the RET control-visc white be disposed of correctly? As an electrical appliance, it should be taken to a collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment rather than disposed of with household waste; the manufacturer’s WEEE registration number is listed in the section on ‘Application, Installation, Maintenance and Disposal’.
