The IKA RET basic HUB Solution Complete Package (MPN 0010016572) represents a highly advanced, mechanically unrivalled in terms of robustness and thermodynamically precise system solution for the simultaneous stirring, intensive mixing and precise temperature control of liquid media. This bespoke complete set is based on the tried-and-tested RET basic safety heating magnetic stirrer, combined with optimised stand and mounting accessories (“HUB”). In modern laboratories specialising in chemical synthesis, pharmaceuticals and industrial process engineering, the absolutely reliable handling of viscous or high-density batches is the decisive factor in ensuring reproducible reaction conditions with process reliability.

Excellent thermal conductivity thanks to a pure stainless steel base

A material-specific highlight of the RET basic is its high-performance heating surface, with a diameter of 135 mm, which is made from a specialised, high-purity stainless steel alloy. Compared to conventionally coated surfaces, the pure stainless steel plate offers exceptionally high thermal conductivity, resulting in extremely short heating cycles and highly efficient heat transfer to the sample. The surface is also characterised by outstanding mechanical impact resistance, scratch resistance and excellent resistance to a wide range of aggressive solvents. The circular geometry is perfectly suited to standardised laboratory vessels, can be cleaned without leaving any residue and ensures gentle, continuous use over many years.

Flawless media thermoregulation and HUB system architecture

The process engineering basis for precise temperature control is direct measurement within the sample medium. The system features an integrated microprocessor control unit with sophisticated PID control characteristics, which operates in conjunction with the supplied Pt1000 temperature sensor. The distinctive feature of the “HUB Solution” lies in the perfect mechanical integration of the mounting components: The stable stand system guarantees absolutely vibration-free, vertically precise guidance and locking of the sensor within the vessel. Transient contact between the sensor and the vessel base or the rotating stirrer is reliably prevented, thereby avoiding measurement errors and reliably protecting sensitive sample components from local overheating.

Hermetic housing seal and comprehensive laboratory safety

The RET basic’s long-term durability is underpinned by its sealed housing design, which meets IP 42 protection standards. The robust die-cast aluminium housing effectively protects the internal electronic control circuits and the high-torque drive from spilled media, aggressive vapours or dust. Safety is the top priority with this device: A safety circuit, which can be adjusted independently of the main processor, monitors the maximum hotplate temperature and immediately shuts down the system in the event of unexpected temperature spikes. In addition, a highly visible ‘Hot Top Indicator’ warns laboratory staff of the risk of burns after operation until the hotplate surface has cooled down to a safe temperature.
