The RV 3 V Starter Solution is the complete package for the RV 3 series: the drive, heating bath, vertical glass set, vacuum pump and recirculating cooler are all included in a single order item, meaning that no additional peripheral equipment needs to be purchased separately for operation. Anyone purchasing a rotary evaporator for the first time or setting up a second station without existing infrastructure is thus spared the task of selecting and matching a pump and cooler to the drive. Unlike the other RV-3 variants, this set also includes the RV 10.1 vertical glass assembly, together with a hose set and cabling for the direct connection of the pump and cooler to the drive.
Vacuum pump and recirculating cooler already matched to each other
The supplied VACSTAR lite vacuum pump achieves a flow rate of 1.0 cubic metres per hour or 16.7 l per minute and an ultimate pressure of 9 millibars, controlled via the VC 10 lite vacuum controller, which is also included in the set and features manual setpoint input. The RC 2 lite recirculating cooler, with a cooling capacity of 400 watts, cools down to minus 10 degrees Celsius, operates with a pressure and suction pump at 0.35 bar, filters via a stainless steel mesh filter and runs on the natural refrigerant R290. The vertical cooler makes efficient use of the 1,500 square centimetre cooling surface via a specially developed glass guide.
Manual operation, compact overall design
As with the other RV-3 models, the speed can be adjusted between 20 and 300 revolutions per minute using a rotary knob, with a tolerance of ±1 rpm below and ±1 per cent above 100 rpm. The manual lift has a stroke of 150 millimetres; this entry-level model does not feature an RS-232 or USB interface for remote control. The vacuum pump itself is compact enough to fit next to the drive without noticeably reducing the working area at the fume cupboard.

Warranty and procurement service
The IKA manufacturer’s warranty applies to the drive unit and the heating bath: 2 years, extended to 5 years upon registration at ika.com/register within 90 days of purchase. The IKA warranty at level 2+1 applies to the VACSTAR lite and RC 2 lite peripheral devices included in the set; upon registration, this is 3 years instead of 5. For replacement glassware, a more powerful pump or an additional cooler, LT Laborhandel’s procurement service will put together the appropriate package.
