Product information "IKA S 25 N - 8 G - ST Dispersing tool, sawtooth, Ø 8 mm, 1–50 ml, 0004446900"

The specialist for fibrous samples: IKA S 25 N - 8 G - ST dispersing tool

The IKA S 25 N - 8 G - ST dispersing tool (MPN 0004446900) is a high-performance rotor-stator assembly for the IKA T 25 dispersing drives (e.g. T 25 digital, T 25 easy clean). Whilst standard tools often reach their limits and become blocked when grinding tissue or plant material, this model really comes into its own thanks to its special geometry.

The secret: the sawtooth geometry (“ST”)

The abbreviation “ST” stands for saw-tooth. The stator of this tool is fitted with sharp saw-tooth blades.

  • Cutting & Tearing: Before the sample is drawn into the actual shearing gap between the rotor and stator, the saw teeth cut through tough, fibrous structures.
  • No clogging: Muscle tissue, skin, plant fibres or tough food samples (e.g. meat) do not wrap around the shaft, but are efficiently shredded.
  • High efficiency: You often save yourself the trouble of manually chopping the sample with a scalpel beforehand.

Perfect for small volumes (“8 G”)

With a stator diameter of just 8 mm, this tool is designed for small sample volumes.

  • Volume range: It homogenises volumes from 1 ml to 50 ml (based on water). Ideal for test tubes, Eppendorf tubes or small beakers.
  • Coarse (“G”): The slot width is designed for primary, coarse fragmentation of solids in liquids, but the extremely high speeds (up to 25,000 rpm) produce fine emulsions and suspensions.

Durability and hygiene (“N”)

The “N” in the designation stands for the tried-and-tested PTFE bearing.

  • Materials: All parts in contact with the medium are made of high-quality stainless steel (AISI 316L) and chemically highly resistant PTFE.
  • Cleaning: The unit can be easily dismantled into its individual parts (rotor, stator, shaft, bearing) for cleaning without the need for special tools.
  • Sterilisation: It is fully autoclavable (121 °C), which prevents cross-contamination in biological and medical applications.

Areas of application

  • Biology & Medicine: Homogenisation of fibrous muscle tissue, skin, liver or cartilage for DNA/RNA extraction.
  • Food analysis: Grinding meat, vegetable or fruit samples.
  • Agricultural research: Digestion of leaves, stems and roots.
  • Pharmaceuticals: Grinding of coated tablets or tablets in solvents.
