The S 50 KD - G 45 G ST (0010000632) is rated for 10,000 rpm; the tool is autoclavable and permits a vacuum of 100 mbar. Stator 45 mm, rotor 38 mm, working range 0.5 to 20 l. IKA specifies the T 50 digital as the drive unit.
Speed limit
At 10,000 rpm, the maximum permissible speed is lower than the 25,000 rpm of the S-25 tools. With a rotor diameter of 38 mm, this results in a circumferential speed of 19.9 m/s. The rotor draws in the medium and forces it radially through the stator slots; the stator diameter is 45 mm.
Geometry
The gap width is 0.5 mm; at maximum speed, this results in a circumferential speed of 19.9 m/s. The immersion depth ranges from 70 to 260 mm; the installation length is 300 mm; the tool weighs 0.71 kg. The final particle size is between 40 and 100 µm for suspensions and between 10 and 30 µm for emulsions.
Bearing, seal and design
The shaft is mounted in a ball bearing with a PTFE seal and an FFKM O-ring. Materials in contact with the product are AISI 316L, PTFE and FFPM. The tool is suitable for solvents and designed for operating temperatures up to 150 °C. It is autoclavable; the ball bearing is excluded from sterilisation.
Differences from the KG instruments
This version achieves the same final fineness values as the S 50 KG - HH - G 45 G within the same operating range of 0.5 to 20 l. Differences lie in the seal, rotor and sterilisation: It features a carbide mechanical seal capable of withstanding a vacuum down to 1 mbar and pressure up to 6 bar; the rotor measures 36 mm; and sterilisation is carried out using wet chemical methods only. The S 50 N, G 45 F operates with a PTFE slotted ring bearing.

Fits
If a process in a beaker reaches its limits because 2 litres suddenly need to become 20, a drive with more power and a longer arm is required – but without having to switch to a completely different system. The T 50 digital ULTRA-TURRAX covers precisely this transition, from 0.25 to 30 litres (H₂O), with a speed range of 600 to 10,000 revolutions per minute. As with the smaller model, this is a drive unit only, without a dispersing tool.Constant speed even with varying viscosityThe electronic speed control maintains the set value even if the viscosity changes during the batch, with a maximum permissible viscosity of 5,000 mPas. A soft start reduces the start-up load, whilst electronic overload protection and an error code display ensure reliable operation. Without an attachment fitted, the noise level is 72 dB(A); the speed itself is displayed via an LED and can be adjusted continuously.Powerful drive for larger volumesWith a power input of 1,100 watts and an output of 700 watts, the T 50 digital significantly outperforms the smaller T 25 digital; the extension arm measures 16 millimetres in diameter and 220 millimetres in length. Measuring 115 x 355 x 139 millimetres and weighing 5.85 kilograms, the machine can still be guided by hand. It operates on 220 to 240 volts at 50 or 60 hertz; a voltage variant of 100 to 120 volts is also available. It has an IP 20 protection rating in accordance with DIN EN 60529, and is suitable for ambient temperatures of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius with up to 80 per cent relative humidity.Tool change using the supplied wrenchesA socket wrench for changing the shaft and another for changing the dispersing tool are supplied with the drive unit; the dispersing tool itself is not included and must be selected to suit the application.
