Ball bearing with PTFE seal
The shaft runs in a ball bearing with a PTFE seal and an FFKM O-ring. Materials in contact with the product are FFPM, PTFE and AISI 316L. The tool is suitable for solvents; the pH range is from 2 to 13. The maximum operating temperature is 150 °C; it may be used under vacuum down to 100 mbar. IKA specifies the tool as autoclavable.
Dimensions and fineness
The immersion depth is between 70 and 260 mm; the installation length is 300 mm. At a maximum of 10,000 rpm, the rotor circumference reaches 18.8 m/s. The final fineness ranges from 40 to 100 µm for suspensions and from 10 to 30 µm for emulsions. The tool weighs 0.9855 kg.
Suitable drive
IKA refers to this tool as the T 50 digital. At 18.8 m/s, the peripheral speed is lower than the 20.9 m/s of the S 50 N - G 45 F, which has a 40 mm rotor.
Differences from similar models
The S 50 KG - HH - G 45 G operates within the same working range and has the same rotor dimensions. It features a carbide mechanical seal and is designed for vacuums down to 1 mbar and pressures up to 6 bar. For finer results with a narrower gap of 0.25 mm and flow rates from 0.5 to 15 l, the S 50 KD - G45M is available.

Fits
If a process in a beaker reaches its limits because 2 litres suddenly need to become 20, a drive with more power and a longer arm is required – but without having to switch to a completely different system. The T 50 digital ULTRA-TURRAX covers precisely this transition, from 0.25 to 30 litres (H₂O), with a speed range of 600 to 10,000 revolutions per minute. As with the smaller model, this is a drive unit only, without a dispersing tool.Constant speed even with varying viscosityThe electronic speed control maintains the set value even if the viscosity changes during the batch, with a maximum permissible viscosity of 5,000 mPas. A soft start reduces the start-up load, whilst electronic overload protection and an error code display ensure reliable operation. Without an attachment fitted, the noise level is 72 dB(A); the speed itself is displayed via an LED and can be adjusted continuously.Powerful drive for larger volumesWith a power input of 1,100 watts and an output of 700 watts, the T 50 digital significantly outperforms the smaller T 25 digital; the extension arm measures 16 millimetres in diameter and 220 millimetres in length. Measuring 115 x 355 x 139 millimetres and weighing 5.85 kilograms, the machine can still be guided by hand. It operates on 220 to 240 volts at 50 or 60 hertz; a voltage variant of 100 to 120 volts is also available. It has an IP 20 protection rating in accordance with DIN EN 60529, and is suitable for ambient temperatures of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius with up to 80 per cent relative humidity.Tool change using the supplied wrenchesA socket wrench for changing the shaft and another for changing the dispersing tool are supplied with the drive unit; the dispersing tool itself is not included and must be selected to suit the application.
