The IKA Vortex 2 is the tried-and-tested classic among laboratory shakers, now featuring a new, modern design. This compact unit is designed for the rapid and efficient mixing (vortexing) of small sample volumes in test tubes, vials or Eppendorf tubes.

Flexible operation: touch or continuous mode

The ‘touch function’ (automatic press) is ideal for high sample throughput in everyday laboratory work. The shaking process starts automatically as soon as the user presses the sample vessel onto the attachment, and stops as soon as it is lifted. For longer mixing processes, the device can simply be switched to ‘continuous operation’, allowing for hands-free work.

Stepless speed control for gentle to intensive mixing

A key advantage for specialist buyers is the infinitely variable speed control from 0 to 2,500 rpm. This gives the user full control: from the gentle homogenisation of sensitive samples (e.g. cell suspensions) to the vigorous pre-vorticing of poorly soluble substances.

High stability during operation

The robust die-cast zinc housing and silicone feet ensure the unit stands extremely securely on the laboratory bench. Unlike lighter devices, the Vortex 2 does not ‘move around’ even at high speeds, which significantly enhances safety and convenience. The standard attachment (VG 3.1) for test tubes is included as standard.
