KERN EW 6200-2NM Precision Balance, 6,200 g / 0.01 g, tuning fork principle

Product information "KERN EW 6200-2NM Precision Balance, 6,200 g / 0.01 g, tuning fork principle"

KERN EW 6200-2NM: The indestructible classic with tuning fork technology

The KERN EW 6200-2NM is more than just a balance – it is synonymous with long-lasting precision. As part of the legendary EW-N series, this model utilises the high-quality tuning fork measuring principle. Unlike scales with force compensation or strain gauges, which are often sensitive to temperature fluctuations or require long warm-up times, the EW 6200-2NM is ready to use straight away. Switch it on and start weighing – no waiting required.

With a weighing range of 6,200 g (6.2 kg) and an extremely fine readability of 0.01 g , it bridges the gap between laboratory analysis and robust industrial scales.

Why tuning-fork technology?

  1. No warm-up time: Whilst other precision balances need to be plugged in for up to 2 hours to reach thermal stability, the EW 6200-2NM delivers stable readings immediately after being switched on. Ideal for mobile use or laboratories where the balance is not in operation 24/7.
  2. Robustness: The system is extremely resistant to mechanical stress. The tuning fork system withstands shocks and overloads far better than electromagnetic force-compensation cells.
  3. Long-term stability: The calibration remains stable over long periods, minimising maintenance requirements.

Features for everyday professional use

  • Capacity indicator: A gradually lighting-up strip on the display shows you how much of the weighing range is still available. This prevents accidental overloading during weighing.
  • Piece counting: Thanks to the high resolution, even very light parts can be counted precisely. The reference count can be selected (10, 30, 50, 100).
  • Percentage calculation: Ideal for recipes. You can define the weight of a container as 100% and read off differences directly as a percentage.
  • Data interface: The standard RS-232 interface allows connection to a PC or printer (GLP logging possible with a compatible KERN printer).

Calibration and design

The KERN EW 6200-2NM is calibrated externally. This means you use a defined test weight (available separately) to regularly check and adjust the accuracy (CAL programme). The large stainless steel weighing plate (180 x 160 mm) offers sufficient space for beakers or flasks and is easy to clean. A spirit level and levelling screws for precise levelling are supplied as standard.
