In the event of deviations, the microcontroller immediately adjusts the optical focal plane electromechanically. The detection of micro-cracks, solder joint defects or surface anomalies is a direct function of the angle of incidence of light and photon scattering. The system is equipped with a continuously dimmable, circular LED ring light (3 watts). This emits a defined light spectrum and ensures axially symmetrical, shadow-free illumination of the sample geometry. Optical magnification is achieved via a precise, continuously variable zoom lens (magnification ratio 0.7x – 4.5x). The continuous axial displacement of the high-refractive-index lens elements changes the focal length without chromatic aberrations or spherical distortions affecting the edge resolution of the digital image.
Digital interfaces and metrology integration
For certified laboratories required to maintain comprehensive quality management documentation, the OIV 656 offers direct saving of raw digital data. The video microscope features a standalone SD card slot for the direct storage of high-resolution image and video material without the need for a connected computer. The uncompressed digital video stream is transmitted in parallel via HDMI to external reference monitors with zero latency, or can be sent via the USB interface to appropriate laboratory analysis computers for software-based, pixel-precise measurement (metrology).

The OIV 656 is designed for direct visual analysis on a screen and does not have its own eyepieces. To display the high-resolution HDMI signal optimally, we recommend using a calibrated reference monitor.
