Product information "LAUDA Alpha A 6 Heating Thermostat, 25 to 100 °C, 2.5 to 5.5-litre Bath, L000619"
If you only need to control the temperature of small quantities in the laboratory, such as individual samples, test tubes or small flasks, you do not need a large bath volume. The LAUDA Alpha A 6 is the most compact heating bath in the Alpha series, featuring its own stainless steel bath vessel with a capacity of 2.5 to 5.5 l and an operating temperature range of 25 to 100 °C.
Compact stainless steel bath vessel
The deep-drawn stainless steel bath vessel measures 145 x 161 x 150 millimetres internally and holds between 2.5 and 5.5 l of temperature-control fluid. Measuring 181 x 332 x 370 millimetres, the unit weighs around 7 kilograms and can therefore be accommodated even on a small worktop.
Display and control
A single-line LED display shows either the actual or the setpoint value; operation is via three buttons with a simple menu system. The fully electronic, continuous controller maintains the temperature with a stability of ± 0.05 K; the operating temperature range is from 25 to 100 °C, with a permissible ambient temperature between 5 and 40 °C.
Safety and Circulation
Low-level and over-temperature protection monitor operation with non-flammable liquids and signal faults both audibly and visually. The circulation pump delivers up to 15 l per minute at a maximum pressure of 0.2 bar, and its flow rate can be reduced, which helps to prevent excessive turbulence in the temperature-controlled fluid given the small bath volume. The maximum heating power is 1.5 kilowatts, and the current consumption is 7 amperes.
Typical applications
- Temperature control of small sample volumes in test tubes, flasks or beakers
- Viscosity measurements and calibration baths with low liquid volumes
- Training and education, where a compact, easy-to-use bath is sufficient
- Workstations with limited floor space where a large bath vessel would not fit
- Second unit for running parallel experiments alongside a larger bath
Larger bath or active cooling
If the bath volume of up to 5.5 l is insufficient, the Alpha A 12 and Alpha A 24, two larger temperature-controlled baths from the same series, are available, with bath volumes of 8 to 12 and 18 to 25 l respectively. If a separate bath vessel is not required because a tank or basin is already available, the Alpha A immersion circulator is the better choice. If the temperature-controlled fluid needs to be cooled to below ambient temperature, the Alpha RA 8 cooling thermostat with compressor cooling is the right choice.
Technical data in accordance with DIN 12876
The technical data for the Alpha A 6 are determined in accordance with DIN 12876, the standard for circulating thermostats and bath thermostats in laboratory and industrial applications. This makes it possible to compare specifications regarding temperature stability, heating power and pump capacity across different manufacturers, which is helpful during audits and interlaboratory tests in quality management.
Connection for different mains voltages
The Alpha A 6 operates as standard at 220 volts at 60 hertz or 230 volts at 50 hertz; it is connected via an angled Schuko plug. For export, variants with 100-volt and 115-volt mains plugs (NEMA5-15P in each case) are also available under a separate order number, which is practical for laboratories with equipment from different regions.
