Product information "LAUDA Microcool MC 350 Recirculating Cooler, -10 to 40 °C, 350 Watts Cooling Capacity, L004112"
Anyone looking for an external cooling source for their laboratory bench that does not take up much space will find the LAUDA Microcool MC 350 to be a compact recirculating chiller with a cooling capacity of 350 watts at 20 °C. The unit covers an operating temperature range of -10 to 40 °C and uses the natural refrigerant R-600a, a hydrocarbon, for cooling. Unlike the larger models in the Microcool range, the MC 350 is designed to be placed directly on the laboratory bench, rather than on the floor.
Compact for the laboratory bench
Measuring 240 x 400 x 500 millimetres and weighing 30 kilograms, the MC 350 fits even where no additional floor space is available. A 1-line LED display shows the actual or setpoint value; operation is via three buttons with fully electronic control. The sound pressure level is 60 dB(A), whilst the power consumption is a maximum of 0.5 kilowatts. An illuminated level indicator with a low-level alarm and winding temperature monitoring for the pump are designed to ensure continuous, unattended operation.
Cooling capacity across the temperature range
The cooling capacity of the MC 350 decreases as the setpoint temperature falls: at 20 °C, the unit delivers 0.35 kilowatts; at 10 °C, 0.27 kilowatts; at 0 °C, 0.2 kilowatts; and at minus 10 °C, 0.12 kilowatts. The magnetically coupled block pump delivers up to 16 l per minute at a maximum pressure of 0.4 bar via connections with an external diameter of 10 millimetres. An auto-start timer and an auto-shutdown function allow for automated operation without the need for manual switching on and off.
Installation and mains connection
The MC 350 operates on a mains supply of 220 volts at 60 hertz or 230 volts at 50 hertz, thus covering the standard mains voltages in Europe and other regions. A mains cable with an angled Schuko plug is supplied as standard. For export, LAUDA stocks further plug variants, for example for North America or the UK, each with its own order number. As with the larger models in the range, the ambient temperature range is 5 to 40 °C.
Typical applications
As an external cooling source on the laboratory bench, the MC 350 is suitable for the following tasks, amongst others:
- Cooling of rotary evaporators and condensers
- Temperature control of reaction vessels and double-jacketed containers on a smaller scale
- Cooling of measuring instruments and detectors with limited cooling requirements
- Continuous operation where no floor space is available
Selection guide within the Microcool range
If the cooling capacity of the MC 350 is insufficient for the external circuit, the floor-standing models LAUDA Microcool MC 600 and LAUDA Microcool MC 1200 offer significantly greater cooling capacity whilst operating on the same principle. If a heating function is also required in the same circuit, the compressor-based LAUDA Alpha RA 8 and LAUDA Alpha RA 12 cooling thermostats are the more suitable choice.
