Product information "LAUDA Microcool MC 600 Recirculating Chiller, -10 to 40 °C, 600 Watts Cooling Capacity, L004455"
If the cooling capacity of a benchtop unit is no longer sufficient and you are looking for a circulation chiller to be installed under the laboratory bench or on the floor, the LAUDA Microcool MC 600 delivers a cooling capacity of 600 watts at 20 °C. The unit covers an operating temperature range of -10 to 40 °C and uses the natural refrigerant R-290, a hydrocarbon, for cooling. Measuring 350 x 480 x 595 millimetres and weighing 50 kilograms, the MC 600 is designed for floor installation rather than placement on a laboratory bench.
Cooling capacity across the temperature range
The cooling capacity decreases as the setpoint temperature falls: at 40 °C with a water-glycol mixture, the MC 600 delivers 0.6 kilowatts; at 20 °C with ethanol, it also delivers 0.6 kilowatts; at 10 °C it still delivers 0.5 kilowatts, at 0 °C 0.37 kilowatts and at minus 10 °C 0.2 kilowatts. The magnetically coupled block pump delivers up to 35 l per minute at a maximum pressure of 1.3 bar via connections with G 3/4-inch threads. An adjustable bypass limits the pressure in the circuit.
Operation and safety
A 1-line LED display shows the actual or setpoint value; operation is via three buttons with fully electronic, continuous control. An illuminated liquid level indicator with a low-level alarm and winding temperature monitoring for the pump ensure continuous operation, whilst an auto-start timer and an auto-shutdown function enable automated operation. The sound pressure level is 54 dB(A), the power consumption is a maximum of 0.62 kilowatts, and the current draw is 3.2 amperes. An RS232 interface is available for connection to a higher-level control system.
Installation and mains connection
The MC 600 operates on a 230-volt, 50-hertz mains supply. A mains cable with an angled Schuko plug is supplied as standard; on the same product page, LAUDA lists further plug variants from the same series, for example for the UK or North America, each with its own order number. The fill port is located at the top of the unit, whilst the drain port for changing the coolant is situated at the rear.
Typical applications
As an external cooling source for floor-mounted installations, the MC 600 is suitable for the following applications, amongst others:
- Cooling of larger rotary evaporators and condensers
- Temperature control of reactors and double-walled vessels with higher cooling requirements
- Cooling of multiple loads on a shared circuit
- Continuous operation in laboratories with limited bench space
Selection guide within the Microcool range
If the cooling capacity of the MC 600 is insufficient, the LAUDA Microcool MC 1200, with 1,200 watts, delivers approximately double the capacity whilst operating on the same principle. For smaller set-ups with limited space on the laboratory bench, the more compact LAUDA Microcool MC 350 is often sufficient. If a heating function is also required within the same circuit, the compressor-based LAUDA Alpha RA 12 and LAUDA Alpha RA 24 cooling thermostats are the more suitable choice.

Regulatory information
This device is an electrical appliance within the meaning of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG). The WEEE registration number of the manufacturer, LAUDA DR. R. WOBSER GMBH & CO. KG, is DE 66424057. Information on the return of end-of-life equipment can be found on our Environment and Disposal page.
The appliance operates using the natural refrigerant R-290, with a charge of 0.065 kg and a GWP of 3, which, according to the data sheet, corresponds to a CO2 equivalent of approximately 0.0 tonnes. As a hydrocarbon refrigerant, R-290 is not covered by Regulation (EU) 2024/573 on certain fluorinated greenhouse gases.
Warranty and procurement service
LAUDA DR. R. WOBSER GMBH & CO. KG, Lauda-Königshofen, offers end customers a 5-year ‘Best’ warranty on this unit, effective from the date of delivery. This is subject to registration at lauda.de within three months of delivery and the use of original LAUDA temperature control fluids. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. Excluded are, amongst other things, wear parts such as filters and seals, damage caused during transport, damage resulting from unauthorised tampering, as well as cables, plugs, hoses and adaptors. LAUDA’s warranty terms and conditions (as at 03/2025) apply. Your statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.
A fabric-reinforced EPDM hose for connections with a G 3/4-inch thread is available for the MC 600. LT Laborhandel’s procurement service will, on request, compile a list of suitable accessories and spare parts.
