In open-plan kitchens or positioned directly at the front of a serving counter, every appliance immediately catches the eye – not only because of its technology, but also because of its appearance. The Liebherr FRFBvg 5501 refrigerated storage cabinet combines the striking BlackSteel finish with robust refrigeration technology: a net capacity of 419 litres, a GN 2/1 cross-slot and a temperature range of -2 °C to +15 °C make it a versatile storage cabinet for establishments where the unit remains on display.

BlackSteel finish instead of classic stainless steel

The housing and door are finished in BlackSteel, whilst the inner liner is made of silver-coloured plastic. This combination of materials stands out visually from classic stainless steel cabinets, yet is just as easy to wipe clean as a smooth steel surface. The aluminium handle with a mechanical lock secures the contents; the door opens to the right but is reversible. When the door is fully open, the unit is 79.2 cm wide, which leaves sufficient space even in cramped kitchen layouts to manoeuvre trolleys or carts past it.

GN 2/1 cross-slot and heavy-duty shelves

The interior is designed for the cross-loading of GN 2/1 containers measuring 650 x 530 mm. Five shelving levels made of plastic-coated wire mesh can each support up to 60 kg, ensuring that even heavier Gastronorm containers or crates stand securely without sagging, even when several full containers are placed on a single shelf at the same time. The LED ceiling lighting ensures a clear view of the entire interior, which is particularly helpful at a busy serving counter during service to quickly locate the correct container.

Dynamic cooling with stable temperature control

The cooling system operates dynamically; the temperature setting range extends from -2 °C to +15 °C, thus covering both standard cold storage and more sensitive products that should not be stored at too low a temperature. Defrosting takes place automatically, and the temperature is displayed digitally on the outside. In the event of a fault, the FRFBvg 5501 issues a visual and audible warning. The four height-adjustable feet (150 to 180 mm) make cleaning and installation on uneven floors easier.

Connection and operation

The FRFBvg 5501 operates at 220–240 V with a rated current of 2.0 A and 50 Hz; the power cable is 3,000 mm long. A Wi-Fi/LAN interface can be retrofitted if required. As the successor to the GKv 5760 model, the FRFBvg 5501 is manufactured at Liebherr’s Austrian plant in Lienz and uses the refrigerant R 600a (charge: 70 g). Within the Liebherr product range, it is part of the Perfection cluster, which positions it above basic entry-level models in terms of both price and features. With a net weight of 79.00 kg, the cabinet can be transported to its installation site by two people without undue effort.
