Storing medicines safely in a pharmacy, doctor’s surgery or hospital ward requires more than just an ordinary fridge. The Liebherr HMTvh 1501 is a compact medicines refrigerator compliant with DIN 13277, with a net capacity of 102 litres, designed as a tabletop or under-counter unit for locations where there is no space for a large freestanding unit. The housing and door are made of steel, whilst the inner compartment is made of easy-to-clean white plastic.

DIN 13277 and precise temperature control

The HMTvh 1501 meets the requirements of DIN 13277 for refrigeration units used in laboratories and for the storage of medicines. The set temperature is fixed at +5 °C and is maintained with a temperature stability of ±2 °C, within a permissible ambient temperature range of +10 °C to +35 °C. If, in the event of a fault, the temperature falls below +2 °C, the integrated SafetyDevice function takes control and protects temperature-sensitive samples from supercooling. In the event of a fault, the unit immediately issues a visual and audible warning; in the event of a power cut, the mains failure alarm is triggered immediately and is buffered for at least 12 hours.

Documentation and networking

An integrated USB data logger records the temperature history without interruption and creates its own alarm log, an important component for demonstrating compliance with storage standards under the Pharmacy Operating Regulations. Via the integrated, removable Wi-Fi/LAN interface, the HMTvh 1501 can be integrated into an existing practice or hospital network and monitored remotely. The unit is secured by an electronic lock with remote control; the antimicrobial handle with opening mechanism facilitates daily operation, whilst an LED light strip on the left ensures a clear view of the contents.

Interior fittings: four storage shelves

In the standard version, the HMTvh 1501 is fitted with four plastic-coated storage shelves, each with a load capacity of up to 45 kg, designed for the traditional, flat storage of medicine packaging. With a net volume of 102 l and a gross capacity of 134 l, there is still enough space for a substantial stock, despite the compact external dimensions of 81.9 x 59.7 x 60.5 cm (H x W x D).

Cleanroom-compatible in accordance with ISO EN 14644-1

According to the product data sheet, the HMTvh 1501 is designed to be cleanroom-compatible in accordance with ISO EN 14644-1 and complies with GMP Class B; it is also certified to IEC 60068-3, IEC 61010-1, IEC 61010-2-011 and IEC 61326-1. For businesses required to document the storage of medicinal products, this is a key consideration when selecting equipment, particularly if other Liebherr units compliant with comparable standards are already in use on the same premises.

Particularly in businesses that already use a larger freestanding unit for their main stock, the HMTvh 1501 is ideal as a second, compact unit for a secondary location within the premises – such as an adjoining room or a branch – without having to compromise on the same standard compliance and monitoring technology.
