Reliably determining silicic acid in water and wastewater samples is particularly important in the monitoring of boiler feedwater and cooling water, as silicate deposits can cause damage to plant. The NANOCOLOR Silicic Acid rectangular cuvette test from Macherey-Nagel provides highly sensitive photometric measurements at low cost per sample – pre-programmed for use with the appropriate NANOCOLOR photometers.
Two measurement ranges for different concentrations
The test covers a standard measurement range of 0.01–5.00 mg/L Si (or 0.02–10.0 mg/L SiO₂) and a high-sensitivity measurement range of 0.002–0.100 mg/L Si (or 0.005–0.200 mg/L SiO₂). The method is based on the silicon molybdenum blue procedure and is in accordance with APHA 4500-SiO₂ E and DIN EN ISO 16264 – H57.
Compatible with standard NANOCOLOR photometers
The test can be analysed on the 500 D, Advance, UV/VIS II and VIS II instruments – including the NANOCOLOR VIS II (item no. 919650.1) and NANOCOLOR Advance (item no. 919750) spectrophotometers already available in the LT range.
Practical for everyday laboratory use
One sturdy box of reagents is sufficient for 250 analyses. When stored at 15–25 °C, the shelf life from the date of manufacture is 3 years. The test is also suitable for seawater analysis; no additional digestion kit or sewage sludge digestion kit is required.
